Heavyweights

by Tony Alamo

Before I became a Christian, I hated the cross of Christ. I hated the idea of self-denial, the idea of giving up all my sins, which is the meaning of the cross of Christ.1 This is why I have a great degree of patience and mercy for the world, which also despises the thought of giving up its present lifestyle and sins. Just like the world today, I became angry at the thought of giving up my sins because I didn’t believe that sin was bad. I didn’t believe that God, Heaven, or Hell existed until God proved to me with His wonders how wrong I was about all these things while I sat in a business meeting in an attorney’s office in Beverly Hills.

The Lord by revelation placed me in what the Word of God calls "the time of Jacob’s trouble."2 Suddenly, without notice, dreadful fear and trembling came upon me that day, more fear than I had ever known or believed could be possible. This fear of God made it easy to give up my former life and sins. The fear of the Lord made my sins and former life look exceedingly filthy and unprofitable to me.3 God proved to me they would take my soul to a burning inferno,4 and could do it within a flash of a second. Nothing else could have broken me away from the world of sin or my former, carefree lifestyle than the fear of the Lord that came upon me that day. "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom,"5 and, "The fear of the Lord, that is wisdom [God’s wisdom]."6

With the signs and wonders God was showing me and the things He was physically and spiritually doing to me, I knew that I would immediately die and go to Hell if I didn’t obey His every command. He was telling me to tell everyone that Jesus Christ is coming back to earth again soon, and if they didn’t repent and serve Him they would go to Hell. I knew if I didn’t tell them I would go to Hell as well.7 He also made me know I was a wretched, corrupt sinner, dead in my sins, blind, naked, and small as a grain of sand.8 I was terrified because I had never believed in Heaven or Hell, and yet, in the middle of the business meeting, I saw both.

Several other wonders occurred to me in that office, including God rapidly drawing my soul in and out of my body. He did this with no effort at all. With this, God showed me how easy it would be for Him to destroy me. God’s dealing with me was at least as frightening to me as the Biblical record of the Apostle Paul’s supernatural, abrupt meeting with Christ while persecuting the Christians on his way to Damascus.9 Paul didn’t believe in the Lord Jesus Christ anymore than I did. Maybe he believed less because he killed Christians while in his lost, insane condition.10 This is one great sin I never committed. Paul called himself the chief of sinners because he persecuted the cross of Christ.11 Both Paul and myself were converted suddenly and without notice. We both were given great works to do for the Lord. Both of us have physical eye problems, but we both have perfect spiritual vision. Now, it is easy for me to believe the wondrous accounts in the Bible, which include many wonders similar to mine.

God is all powerful and is everywhere.12 He can do everything, far more than what He says He can.13 It’s also easy for me to believe the Biblical account of the hatred the world has for the purity and holiness of Christ and His saints.14

Before this supernatural experience happened to me thirty-two years ago, I was filled with ego. I thought I was the smartest human being that ever walked the face of the earth, because I felt that anyone who wanted to become any kind of prominent celebrity needed my talents.

Before and after my supernatural experience, I was asked to do promotions for two presidential campaigns, for John Kennedy and his brother Bobby who was assassinated before the election; to manage the Beatles; to manage the Rolling Stones; and to manage hundreds of other major rock ‘n’ roll groups, pop stars, as well as country western stars. I rejected these and many other things because of the fear the Lord instilled in me on that day. Pete Best, the Beatles’ original drummer, gave me a Beatles album for managing him. I, to this date, have never released it because I have been thirty-two years in the ministry, and I want people to know that I’m not in the ministry for money. If I wanted money, I could have sold the Beatles album and many, many other important masters I own. I have not and never will use God’s sacred, holy calling of myself for any monetary gain.

The world feels I’m more capable today than I was before I became a Christian. Two years ago, thirty years after my calling, September, 1994, a couple of federal government heavyweights, the Honorable Federal Judge Jon McCalla, who presides on the bench in Memphis, Tennessee, along with the Department of Justice's number one prosecuting attorney, Chris Belcher, stated I was intelligent enough to rule the entire world. They repeated it back and forth to each other for about fifteen minutes. I pray that the judge, the prosecutor, and the entire world will know the wisdom I have is not my own but the Lord’s. I’m not interested in ruling this temporal, doomed, carnal world unless the world agrees to be ruled God’s way, as it did in the days of Joseph.15 Otherwise, I’m not interested in ruling it any more than Christ, His prophets, His apostles, or His disciples were. All of us agree. We all say along with Jesus, "My kingdom is not of this world."16 My brother the Apostle John stated, by the power of the Holy Spirit, "Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever."17 What good would it be to rule over something that is soon going to burn up?

I pray that his Honor, Judge McCalla, and prosecutor Belcher will know that Christ, through the hands of His servants, is spiritually ruling the world at present for the furtherance of God’s spiritual, everlasting kingdom, a kingdom that shall never burn up or be destroyed in any other way.18 The new spiritual Heaven, earth, and Jerusalem shall all embrace one another very soon.19 I pray that the judge, the prosecutor, and the thousands of other federal and state government agents will become part of it.

Because of my fear of the Lord, it was very easy for me to reject this carnal world. It’s so hard for people of the world, like the judge and prosecuting attorney, to understand how anyone would give their life and give everything that they have to God so they may have eternal life in the kingdom of Heaven. It’s hard for them to understand that anyone would do everything God says so that thousands and millions of human souls could become Christians who are born again of the Spirit.20 The world doesn’t understand people who obey the real God of all ages. It doesn’t understand why they would feed, clothe, and house born again Christians; why they would build them schools, churches, and recreational facilities; why they would pay for their every worldly need, including their dental and medical expenses; without some ulterior motive besides the Lord commanding us to do these things.21 This is the way that Christ was. All of His people are like this. The world needs to be introduced to our reality. It needs to know we’d rather die or be cast into prison for the rest of our lives than waver in our spiritual, harmless but profitable for the world crusade of doing that which the Lord commands us to do.22 Our reward is eternal and exceedingly rich.23 We have been made "heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ," and given ownership of everything They have.24

Our life is so short.25 It’s simple, good sense that makes us, as Christians, lay up eternal things during this life rather than live for the frivolous, temporary, eternally meaningless rewards this world has to offer.26 The world does not yet understand the terror of the Lord. The Apostle Paul, who felt the same way all true Christians do, stated knowing "the terror of the Lord, we persuade men [to serve God only]."27 The world will never understand these things until it meets its creator and judge face to face on judgment day.28

If the world knew the wisdom of Jesus, it would want Him to rule the world. People wanted Jesus to rule the world when He was here on earth.29 My advice to those who are entangled with the affairs of running this present secular world would be to call a year of jubilee. The world is greatly oppressed, but the Lord has laws to end human oppression. One of these laws is the law of jubilee.

The law of jubilee lifts the oppression of the people by forgiving all debts once every fifty years, and all personal debts at the end of every seventh year.30 This means the national deficit would have been forgiven fifty years after our first encumbrance of it. Today’s people had very little to do with the deficit they are paying for today. It occurred fifty years ago and more, and therefore, according to God, they should not be responsible for it. If the world will have faith in God, they will want God’s blessings on them. To receive them, they will have to obey Him and do what He says. The year of jubilee is a blessing in itself. Starvation would end. People would be able to feed their little ones. It would end government welfare.

Christ worked. 31 All of God’s prophets, apostles, and disciples worked. 32 All people should go to work except for those who are disabled, too young, or too old to work. The taxes the world’s people are paying today were not incurred by them. They should not be paying for the expenses their great-grandma or grandpa incurred.

Again, this is my advice to those who rule this soon to burn world. Let fools be kings and rule the world for gold. Let my heart bring a love that can’t grow old to the world. I will gladly live my life for the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ, and I will gladly die for it.

When I was a carnal man in the commercial world, I never used people to make money. I never did, and never will. Christians give, not take,33 and they don’t use people. "God so loved the world, that He GAVE His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life."34 Christ GAVE His life.35 Christ blessed the loaves and fishes and GAVE them to His disciples, who GAVE them to the multitude. He GAVE healing and deliverance to all those who asked for it.36 When I was in the world, I was able to make my own money. I haven’t lost the ability to do so today. Our church built four fundamental Christian communities.

Before I was a Christian, the world loved me. They called me "genius," "Midas," "easy money," "big time operator," and "heavyweight." It seemed to me that the Christians passing out gospel tracts on the street were pitiful, weak, and crazy. I thought they were "wasting their lives." But when the wonders of God happened to me in the attorney’s office, I realized that I wasn’t a heavyweight at all. I knew then that on a scale from one to ten, with ten being smartest, I was lower than zero. I was the most ignorant, spiritually stupid person on earth. I was lacking all of God’s wisdom, knowledge, and understanding. I thought I was rich, but I was the most ragged, poor man spiritually that I’ve ever known. Those pitiful, weak, and crazy looking people on the street distributing their little gospel tracts became my heroes. To me they were the true rich ones, the true big shots, heavyweights in the eyes of God. 37

I begged God, "If You will only let me live, I will be whatever You want me to be. Lord, I’ve seen many of the phonies in the religious field, and I won’t be like them, I promise. If You won’t kill me and send my soul to Hell, I will tell it like it is. Just tell me what You want me to do. I’ll do whatever it is." Just like the Apostle Paul, all the things of the world I was entangled with seemed far less than trash or dung to me.38 These things, which I had thought were so great, I now knew were nothing. If I would have continued in my ways, God would have destroyed my soul forever in Hell. I was so terrified and so desirous to please the Lord, I couldn’t wait to find out what the Lord wanted me to do. I couldn’t wait to get started working for the Lord. I feel even more zealous about it today because I, after studying the Bible for thirty-two years, know for sure that it’s perfect.39 Even if it means being in prison, if it means being ridiculed, hated, despised, lied about, and rejected, I still love every minute because I know the Lord loves me.40 That’s all that matters to me in this world or in the world to come.

The Word of God states there is no human wisdom.41 Socrates and Plato, the world’s greatest philosophers, stated there was no human wisdom. At the trial of Socrates, the judges derided and cast aside the learning of which the other philosophers boasted. Socrates professed the greatest learning he had learned was that he knew nothing, and I can honestly say the same. If there is no human wisdom as God says, as Socrates taught, and as he handed down to Plato, it is evident the knowledge of the truth is divine and belongs to none other than God. Therefore, God must be known as He alone in whom is the truth.42 He is the sole parent of the world and the framer of all things.43 He has been seen by many, yet He has not been seen with the eyes of most, but rather recognized, through the Holy Spirit, by their hearts, minds, and souls. God’s church is accustomed to being attacked in many ways by those who are not able to obtain true wisdom or to comprehend the system of the great heavenly secret.44

There are many steps by which the ascent is made to the kingdom of God and the abode of truth. It will be impossible for the world to go to Heaven if their eyes get progressively more blind each time the gospel is preached to them. Those who are unable to maintain their footing as they travel up God’s ladder of everlasting success will fall back to the ground and then into Hell.45

All the steps of God’s spiritual ladder of success are very important. The first step is to learn God’s Word that you may discern good from evil, what God likes and dislikes.46 You must also be able to discern the seen world from the unseen. The second step is to learn all there is to know about false religions by His Word.47 The third step is to know with your heart and your mind that there is but one supreme God whose power and providence not only made the world from the beginning, but continues to govern it through His service.48 The fourth is to know through the Holy Spirit God’s servants and messengers, those He has sent as His ambassadors to the earth, whose teachings are free from the error in which the world is entangled.49 We need to worship the true God that we might learn righteousness from these steps, as well as the other steps.50

Soon the Spirit of God’s power, which is grace, will no longer extend this mercy, but will forever be removed from earth since the wicked world has rejected Him far too long.51 There will be no wall of fire or shelter of God’s mercy extended to the wicked world for the purpose of giving them time to repent. This will cause all inhabitants of the earth to fall into the time of the greatest trouble.52

The final judgment of the devil, of his fallen angels, and of those who have chosen to follow them, is God’s desire to soon take hold of them by the hand of His holy angels on the day of their tribulation and pain.53 God will cause His chastisement and His wrath to abide upon them eternally.54

You mighty kings who dwell on the earth shall have to behold Jesus Christ, God’s elect, sitting on His throne of glory. You will have to see how He judges Satan, all his associates, and all his hosts in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of every spirit.55 Satan’s elect and beloved ones shall be cast into the narrow chasm of the abyss.56 It shall be filled with their elect and beloved, and the days of their lives shall be at an end. Then the days of their leading people astray shall be over.57 This is the fate of all those who have chosen to think they’re bigger than God, those who believe themselves to be the world’s heavyweights. But what lasting sense does this make? "For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?"58

We all must come face to face with God in the resurrection.59 Fellowship with this sinful world will cause you to believe sin is not so repulsive. A person who loves to fellowship with the servants of Satan will quickly cease to fear their master.60 What if the Lord extracts your soul today or tonight? What good will anything in the world you have desired do for you then?61

"Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them; While the sun, or the light, or the moon, or the stars, be not darkened, nor the clouds return after the rain: In the day when the keepers of the house shall tremble, and the strong men shall bow themselves, and the grinders cease because they are few, and those that look out of the windows be darkened, And the doors shall be shut in the streets, when the sound of the grinding is low, and he shall rise up at the voice of the bird, and all the daughters of musick shall be brought low; Also when they shall be afraid of that which is high, and fears shall be in the way, and the almond tree shall flourish, and the grasshopper shall be a burden, and desire shall fail: because man goeth to his long home [Heaven or Hell], and the mourners go about the streets: Or ever the silver cord be loosed, or the golden bowl be broken, or the pitcher be broken at the fountain, or the wheel broken at the cistern. Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it."62

All that is in the world is vanity. 63 Give it up right now before it’s everlastingly too late, and serve the greatest heavyweight of all ages, and eternity, the Lord Jesus Christ. Start out by saying this prayer:

Prayer

My Lord and my God, have mercy upon my soul, a sinner. 1 I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of the Living God. 2 I believe that He died on the cross and shed His precious blood for the forgiveness of all my sins. 3 I believe that God raised Jesus from the dead by the power of the Holy Spirit 4 and that He sits on the right hand of God at this moment, hearing my confession of sin and this prayer. 5 I open up the door of my heart and I invite You into my heart, Lord Jesus. 6 Wash all of my filthy sins away in the precious blood that You shed in my place on the cross at Calvary. 7 You will not turn me away, Lord Jesus, You will forgive my sins and save my soul. I know because Your Word, the Bible says so. 8 Your Word says that You will turn no one away, and that includes me. 9 Therefore, I know that You have heard me, and I know that You have answered me, and I know that I am saved. 10 And I thank You, Lord Jesus, for saving my soul, and I will show my thankfulness by doing as You command and sin no more. 11

You've just completed the first step in a series of five steps which are necessary to receive salvation. Your second step is to deny yourself and take up the cross daily for the purpose of mortifying yourself, that is, for putting to death your own will, your soulful self, and the world with all of its lusts. All these must be baptized into the death of Christ.

Step three is your resurrection from the satanic life of Adam unto the sinless life of Christ. Step four is your ascension into a position of authority to reign for God on earth, and the fifth step is to reign for God on earth to the end for the purpose of bringing about the kingdom of Heaven on earth. You must learn the Word of God, then submit yourself and do what the Word says, so that the Church and the world may see evidence of your submission to God's Word, His order, and His authority in and by you.

Praise the Lord. May God reward you abundantly.
