Bleachers Full of Spiritually Dead People

by Tony Alamo

In the Bible, in the book of Judges 21:25 states, “In those days there was no king in Israel: every man did that which was right in his own eyes.” This reminds me somewhat of one of the LORD’S churches I pastor, that when I who had been supernaturally called by the LORD HIMSELF, was put in prison, some of the people in the church felt as though there was no pastor, and every man in the church began doing that which was right in their own eyes, just as if there was no GOD in Heaven or WORD of GOD on earth and as though they had not been instructed as to what to do in the event that I was incarcerated, or in the event of my death.

Psalm 119:2 states, “Blessed are they that keep HIS testimonies, and that seek HIM with the whole heart.”

One of the great testimonies of the LORD is HIS creation of Heaven and earth and all that is therein, and we are not to ever forget that testimony (Genesis Ch. 1). Another grand testimony of the LORD is the way HE delivered the Hebrew children out of the land of Egypt by sending Moses and ten large plagues, which included GOD not only taking the lives of all of the firstborn males and females of Egypt, but taking the lives of the firstborn of all the animals as well (Exodus 12:29-30). Then GOD opened the Red Sea so that the Hebrews, the entire nation of Israel, could walk through on dry ground. When the Egyptians tried to cross the Red Sea on dry ground, GOD collapsed the Red Sea upon them and drowned them all, while all of Israel was safely rescued and on the other shore, on dry ground (Exodus 14:13-31).

The LORD chastens those whom HE loves (Hebrews 12:5-8). Israel disobeyed GOD by not allowing the land to rest every seventh year by not planting on it. They disobeyed this commandment for seventy years, and GOD chastened them by allowing them to go into captivity in Babylon for seventy years.1 This is also a testimony of what GOD does to HIS own people for their disobedience. Before this, HE allowed them to wander in the wilderness for forty years after their deliverance from Egypt, because they refused to believe that GOD would be with them in the Promised Land.2

The church of the LORD that I pastor has seen many miracles through these forty-eight years, yet since I have been in prison, some of the people of the congregation seem to be doing things which they feel are right in their own eyes, rather than seeking guidance from the pastor that GOD has given them, the pastor they know hears from the LORD. Some have committed adultery, and many have allowed the church property to fall through itself. They fail to trust that GOD would vindicate them, make a way for them. Even when their pastor was with them, they began to be nonchalant, and began thinking that the church that GOD gave me to pastor was like all of the other dead churches where they just play church instead of serving GOD with all of their heart, soul, mind, and strength. So GOD punished them by taking their children away, and many of them could not live on any of the properties any longer. GOD allowed their true selves to be exposed. They weren’t praying. They were watching TV, listening to rock-n-roll music, eating fast food, playing video games, and using all of the gadgets they wanted that Satan has for them. They began buying unauthorized properties, like farms and GOD only knows what else. They hate one another and argue with each other, and they have forgotten the testimonies of the LORD.

One of the men, whose name is Tom, moved his wife out of the church when she was six months pregnant. He said he was afraid that they were going to take his baby. The baby won’t be born for another three months, but my personal belief is that he wanted to live a life away from the others so that no one will know what he is doing. However, the LORD knows what he is all about. Tom obviously thinks that there is no pastor any longer, thinks that GOD is dead and doesn’t see what he is up to.

This reminds me very much of another powerful testimony, the testimony of Nehemiah. Chapter 1:1-7 in Nehemiah states, “The words of Nehemiah the son of Hachaliah. And it came to pass in the month Chisleu, in the twentieth year, as I was in Shushan the palace, That Hanani, one of my brethren, came, he and certain men of Judah; and I asked them concerning the Jews that had escaped, which were left of the captivity, and concerning Jerusalem. And they said unto me, The remnant that are left of the captivity there in the province are in great affliction and reproach: the wall of Jerusalem also is broken down, and the gates thereof are burned with fire [All of this happened because of Israel’s sins. Also, close to the same is happening to the church because of the sins of the people that live in the church, who have become lukewarm and ice cold. Some are committing adultery, some are stealing, some are lying to the HOLY SPIRIT, some are usurping authority, and others are lying about me and falsely accusing me, and no one is seeking the LORD, or praying with sincerity].

“And it came to pass, when I [Nehemiah] heard these words, that I sat down and wept, and mourned certain days, and fasted, and prayed before the GOD of Heaven [Instead of this, two married women with children committed adultery with a young man at the church, and are no longer able to attend the church or be supported by the church. Nehemiah began praying], And said, I beseech THEE, O LORD GOD of Heaven, the great and terrible GOD, that keepeth covenant and mercy for them that love Him and observe HIS commandments [This type of prayer must be said by everyone in the church with a heart as sincere as Nehemiah. Nehemiah continues]: Let THINE ear now be attentive, and THINE eyes open, that THOU mayest hear the prayer of THY servant, which I pray before THEE now, day and night, for the children of Israel THY servants, and confess the sins of the children of Israel, which we have sinned against THEE: both I and my father’s house have sinned. We have dealt very corruptly against THEE, and have not kept the commandments, nor the statutes, nor the judgments, which THOU commandedst THY servant Moses.”

The time has come where no one can watch the servants of GOD do all of their Godly work and for them to do nothing! Everyone has to get busy. You can’t just sit on the bleachers as dead people and watch any longer.

Nehemiah 1:9 states [GOD speaking], “But if ye turn unto ME, and keep MY commandments [demands], and do them; though there were of you cast out unto the uttermost part of the heaven, yet will I gather them from thence, and will bring them unto the place that I have chosen to set MY name there. Now these are THY servants and THY people, whom THOU hast redeemed by THY great power, and by THY strong hand. O LORD, I beseech THEE, let now THINE ear be attentive to the prayer of THY servant, and to the prayer of THY servants, who desire to fear THY name: and prosper, I pray THEE, THY servant this day, and grant him mercy in the sight of this man. For I was the king’s cupbearer.”

Nehemiah didn’t only pray, he told the king what was the matter. Nehemiah 2:1-3 states, “And it came to pass in the month Nisan, in the twentieth year of Artaxerxes the king, that wine was before him: and I took up the wine, and gave it unto the king. Now I had not been beforetime sad in his presence. [Because of Nehemiah’s prayer, GOD opened the door for him unto the king.] Wherefore the king said unto me, Why is thy countenance sad, seeing thou art not sick? this is nothing else but sorrow of heart. Then I was very sore afraid, And said unto the king, Let the king live for ever: why should not my countenance be sad, when the city, the place of my fathers’ sepulchres [graves], lieth waste, and the gates thereof are consumed with fire?” This is another fantastic testimony of GOD, that HE hears and answers the prayers of a sincere servant.

Verse 4-5 states, “Then the king said unto me, For what dost thou make request? So I prayed to the GOD of Heaven. And I said unto the king, If it please the king, and if thy servant have found favour in thy sight, that thou wouldest send me unto Judah, unto the city of my fathers’ sepulchres, that I may build it.” Nehemiah never attempted to be a king or a pastor. He asked for permission. He didn’t do his own thing. The people of the church, many of them, have made themselves pastors and caused great damage to the church, as well as to their own souls. But Nehemiah was humble and asked permission from the king.

Nehemiah 2:6 states, “And the king said unto me, (the queen also sitting by him,) For how long shall thy journey be? and when wilt thou return? So it pleased the king to send me; and I set him a time.”

There are many jobs that need to be filled in the church, but no one asks, “What shall I do?” Some of the people in the church in their disobedience believe that all they have to do is pray, do menial work, and let someone else do the Spiritual work of the LORD, like they are the elite, and seem to believe that we who do the work are a couple of dogs. The truth is that it is just the opposite. We need help in Arkansas, and many have moved to Los Angeles because they like it there better. They figure that they paid the price and they can retire, but the truth is that they have not paid any price. They do as they please and could care less about being subjected unto leadership. They are puffed up!

Nehemiah 2:7-8 states, “Moreover I said unto the king, If it please the king, let letters be given me to the governors beyond the river, that they may convey me [the one and only one who GOD has chosen to do this] over till I come into Judah; And a letter unto Asaph the keeper of the king’s forest, that he may give me timber to make beams for the gates of the palace which appertained to the house, and for the wall of the city, and for the house that I shall enter into. And the king granted me, according to the good hand of my GOD upon me.”

How many people in all of the churches in the world are interested in building the true house of GOD? Almost nobody! GOD gave me a vision of the silhouettes of supposed-to-be Christians sitting in the dark on bleachers. There was a spotlight coming down from Heaven, and Sue and I were in the spotlight attempting to pull people out of the darkness into the spotlight. In other words, we were trying to win people’s souls. Then the spotlight was moving here and there in a jerking-like movement.

They don’t care to have a leader telling them what the LORD wants them to do. They have retired themselves from the true work of GOD. Nehemiah is making sure that he is not leaving one stone left unturned, and I am doing the same.

Nehemiah 2:10 states, “When Sanballat the Horonite, and Tobiah the servant, the Ammonite, heard of it, it grieved them exceedingly that there was come a man to seek the welfare of the children of Israel.” There are many Sanballats and Tobiahs in this world today that are attempting to stop the work of GOD in the LORD’S church, but if people will pray and do what GOD says, GOD will not allow those Sanballats and Tobiahs to prevail. Nothing, not even Hell, can prevail against the true Body of CHRIST, the Church, the New Jerusalem, which is the Bride of CHRIST.3

Nehemiah 2:11-16 states, “So I came to Jerusalem, and was there three days. And I arose in the night, I and some few men with me; neither told I any man what my GOD had put in my heart to do at Jerusalem: neither was there any beast with me, save the beast that I rode upon. And I went out by night by the gate of the valley, even before the dragon well, and to the dung port, and viewed the walls of Jerusalem, which were broken down, and the gates thereof were consumed with fire. Then I went on to the gate of the fountain, and to the king’s pool: but there was no place for the beast that was under me to pass. Then went I up in the night by the brook, and viewed the wall, and turned back, and entered by the gate of the valley, and so returned. And the rulers knew not whither I went, or what I did; neither had I as yet told it to the Jews, nor to the priests, nor to the nobles, nor to the rulers, nor to the rest that did the work. [Jerusalem was so destroyed that Nehemiah didn’t want to discourage them. He wanted to hear from the LORD on how to break it to them.]” After much duress and persecution, the wall and the city were rebuilt. These Jews stood against the enemy until they accomplished rebuilding the city.

A few years ago, the one world government took away all of our property. Much of it we built with used lumber. One of the women in the church left, saying that even if we were restored, if we rebuilt everything, the government would steal it all again, so what’s the use? Her name was Ina Levy. She quit and decided not to be a Christian any longer. Since then we got new property, and we continued on. Now the government is trying to take it all again, based on false allegations, but if they took everything away, it wouldn’t matter. MY Christianity is not based on whether I have property or not. I’M SAVED!! AND I’M GOING TO HEAVEN!! But I will fight to defend and to keep what we have earned!

Ina was not right because the LORD tells us to continue on till HE comes (Luke 19:13) and to “endure hardness, as a good soldier of JESUS CHRIST (2 Timothy 2:3).4 If we think like Ina, I guess we should all quit serving the LORD, but I’ll do as the LORD says. I’ll continue on till HE comes. It is written in 2 Peter 3:10, “But the day of the LORD will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.” Verse 12 states, “Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of GOD, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat.”

I am so glad that I am not you, Ina, that I am not in your shoes or the shoes of the others that have fallen away, such as Tom Gorbea, Bill Levy, Gail Bingham, Joey Orlando and his family, Ed Mick, the McClellands, and hundreds of others. You people have fulfilled the prophecy of 2 Thessalonians chapter 2, which tells of the great falling away just before JESUS CHRIST comes back to earth. I wouldn’t be in any of your shoes for all of the money in the world. Jerusalem got built, was destroyed again by the Roman King Titus in 70 A.D., and was rebuilt again.

Many martyrs have been murdered. Some of us are also willing to be murdered for CHRIST because we have a Heaven to reap and a Hell to shun, and we are not afraid.

Relief from the world’s problems will not be found in the Republican or Democratic parties. Salvation is of the LORD JESUS CHRIST. Believe HIM (the whole WORD of GOD) and live, and serve HIM and live. Start out by saying this prayer, then be baptized, fully submerged in water, in the name of the FATHER, the SON, and the HOLY SPIRIT. Then study HIS WORD and do what it says.

Prayer

My LORD and my GOD, have mercy upon my soul, a sinner. 1 I believe that JESUS CHRIST is the SON of the living GOD. 2 I believe that HE died on the cross and shed HIS precious blood for the forgiveness of all my former sins. 3 I believe that GOD raised JESUS from the dead by the power of the HOLY SPIRIT 4 and that HE sits on the right hand of GOD at this moment, hearing my confession of sin and this prayer. 5 I open up the door of my heart, and I invite YOU into my heart, LORD JESUS. 6 Wash all of my filthy sins away in the precious blood that YOU shed in my place on the cross at Calvary. 7 YOU will not turn me away, LORD JESUS; YOU will forgive my sins and save my soul. I know because YOUR WORD, the Bible, says so. 8 YOUR WORD says that YOU will turn no one away, and that includes me. 9 Therefore, I know that YOU have heard me, and I know that YOU have answered me, and I know that I am saved. 10 And I thank YOU, LORD JESUS, for saving my soul, and I will show my thankfulness by doing as YOU command and sin no more.11
