DIRTY DANCING AND SINGING

by Tony Alamo

Have you ever heard people who claim to be Christians say, “There are some good movies on T.V.”? The Webster’s Dictionary states that “good” means beneficial, valid, healthy, or sound, honorable, enjoyable, pleasant. Do you know of any movie on television that has all the virtues of “good”? I don’t! A certain ruler said to JESUS, “Good Master.” And JESUS answered, saying, “Why callest thou ME good? none is good, save one, that is, GOD” (Luke 18:18-19). In other words, JESUS is saying, “Are you calling ME GOD?”

In the Bible, GOD tells us how the children of Israel sinned.1It also tells us how the angels in Heaven sinned by leaving their first estate, and are bound forever in chains of darkness.2Jude 6 states, “And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, HE hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.” Jude 8 states, “Likewise also these filthy dreamers defile the flesh, despise dominion, and speak evil of dignities.”

In our church, we have experienced many years of persecution, slander, indignities, and false accusations. Many have fallen away from well-doing, from GOD. Just like the people of Israel and the angels, they’ve fallen away from the LORD. The spirit of Satan has told them, “You have done enough, GOD will forgive you. You have put up with more than any human could. You put in enough years, and it is now time for you to relax and do something for yourself, rather than for GOD. Forget about that song that says when I have gone the last mile of the way. You have a life to live of your own. You put in the best years of your life, and now it is time to leave the LORD’S work. Besides, the persecution is getting too hot and heavy, and the people of the church are getting many death threats for distributing Gospel literature. Save your own skin! You don’t want to die, do you?”

What good is it to bring a message from GOD to people who don’t care if they are going to Hell or not? “Leave the church, leave GOD! Don’t be an idiot! Leave like the rest of the weak ones, that is, if you know what is good for you!

JESUS said there would be days like this, and HE told of them many times in HIS WORD.3“Remember the WORD that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted ME, they will also persecute you” (John 15:20). If they lied about ME, they will lie about you, and if they crucify ME, they will crucify you.

This is why it is so important to not watch anything such as TV, that will not edify your soul, or that will take away the spiritual strength in you.4Spiritually, we must be like the Greek athletes of Sparta, where the Greeks train all of their warriors. We must be Spiritual warriors.5Ephesians 6:12 states, “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”

When you are watching television, you are not training yourself to fight spiritual wickedness in high places. You are not training yourself to fight the devil, but the devil is training you to fight GOD. He is hypnotizing you into fighting GOD.6Spiritual power will come to you only by your keeping your mind stayed upon GOD.7In the last court case that I had, the prosecution was scolding me for not letting our people watch television. I was not allowed to respond to the prosecution, and the judge just let them say and do whatever they wanted. The judges say that you can’t mention anything about the Bible. You can’t mention any good works that you have done. In other words, only Satan has the freedom of speech in today’s courtrooms.

While all this was going on, I was remembering the words that GOD said to me, which were, “You’ll have to be one hundred million times stronger than that big, old oak tree” next to the LORD’S church which I pastor in Canyon Country, California. I also remembered HIM telling me, “You’re saved,” and “You’re going to Heaven.” I also remembered HIM appearing before me while I was wide awake, and remembered many other visions, such as those of Heaven and Hell. All of these gave me great Spiritual strength.

There is a woman who used to be in the church in Los Angeles who stated that she doesn’t agree with my ministry. She is the one that stated that there are many good movies on television. She brags about her son, who lives in San Francisco, loves rap music, and loves all of the things we are supposed to hate. She says she is so proud of him. Her 18-year-old daughter has risen up against me because she feels that I am too strict. This woman is not ashamed, but instead is proud of the way her children have fallen away from the LORD. I will not be ashamed to mention her name, which is Lisa Thorne. Her daughter is Abigail Thorne, and her sons are Abraham and Aaron. Twenty years ago, she needed a place to live and food to eat. We took her in. She got married and had children, and the church supported them all for more than twenty years. However, when persecution came, she couldn’t handle it any longer, primarily because she has a job and moved away from the church. She has food where she works, and some tip money to pay for rent, but woe be unto them that call evil good, and good evil. Isaiah 5:20 states, “Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!”

How can anyone call baseball, basketball, or football evil? Well, does it edify your soul? Does it get you closer to GOD? If it doesn’t, then it is clearly evil. Can watching politics get you closer to GOD? Is watching politics evil? Watching them debate—does that get you closer to GOD? No! It just teaches you how to lie better than you already do. How about watching the Olympics? The answer is the same. The answer is no! What about anything other than GOD? The answer is no!

Before I was a Christian, when I was very young, I lived a life of poverty, even though I worked very hard. Then when I became older, I realized that I had the mind to be an impresario (great at marketing). I was number one in health clubs, number one in the promotional field, number one in the recording field, and number one in the clothing field, and now number one in the Gospel field. I have known how to live without anything and with everything, and I found out that both ways are not satisfying.

When Lisa was talking about her son living in San Francisco, dirty dancing and singing and carrying on, she acted like that was the right thing to do, to live life high on the hog. However, I have done all of that, and it is not fulfilling at all. I feel sorry for that boy, who has such a bad mother that she makes him feel like he is on top of the world, when he is really at the bottom of the barrel.

The only thing that makes me happy is the knowledge that I am saved and going to Heaven, and that I have the power of GOD in me to stand, which comes from my reading GOD’S WORD, doing what it says, and rejecting sin, Satan, and the world. I only receive what GOD allows me to have, and I only do what GOD allows me to do. For this, I and other members of the church that fear the LORD receive the same persecution. We should look at the parable of the sower. We are the bodies in which Christ with HIS FATHER by the SPIRIT lives, so HE in us goes out to sow the WORD of GOD into the hearts of all humanity who are made out of the soil, the ground (Genesis 2:7).8

Matthew 13:20-23 states, “But he that received the SEED [CHRIST, who is the WORD of GOD] into stony places, the same is he that heareth the WORD, and anon with joy receiveth it; Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the WORD, by and by he is offended. He also that received SEED among the thorns is he that heareth the WORD; and the care of this world [singing, dirty dancing, TV, computers, etc.], and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the WORD, and he becometh unfruitful. But he that received SEED [CHRIST] into the good ground is he that heareth the WORD, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth [souls], some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.”

I pray that you do the same, for without doing so, you shall not be able to enter the kingdom of GOD.9Start out now by saying this prayer. Then be baptized, fully submerged in water in the name of the FATHER, the SON, and the HOLY SPIRIT. Study the WORD diligently, and do what it says.

Prayer

My LORD and my GOD, have mercy upon my soul, a sinner. 1 I believe that JESUS CHRIST is the SON of the living GOD. 2 I believe that HE died on the cross and shed HIS precious blood for the forgiveness of all my former sins. 3 I believe that GOD raised JESUS from the dead by the power of the HOLY SPIRIT 4 and that HE sits on the right hand of GOD at this moment, hearing my confession of sin and this prayer. 5 I open up the door of my heart, and I invite YOU into my heart, LORD JESUS. 6 Wash all of my filthy sins away in the precious blood that YOU shed in my place on the cross at Calvary. 7 YOU will not turn me away, LORD JESUS; YOU will forgive my sins and save my soul. I know because YOUR WORD, the Bible, says so. 8 YOUR WORD says that YOU will turn no one away, and that includes me. 9 Therefore, I know that YOU have heard me, and I know that YOU have answered me, and I know that I am saved. 10 And I thank YOU, LORD JESUS, for saving my soul, and I will show my thankfulness by doing as YOU command and sin no more.11

Now that you are saved, make sure you are baptized, fully submerged in water, in the name of the FATHER, in the name of the SON, and in the name of the HOLY SPIRIT (Matthew 28:18-20). Serve GOD with all of your heart, soul, mind, and strength (Mark 12:30). Study the Scriptures, and do what they say until the day you die (2 Timothy 2:15, 3:14-17).
