THE PRAYER

by Tony Alamo

Do Christians (not Christians in name only, but real servants of GOD, born-of-the-SPIRIT Christians) believe that the horrible conditions of today’s world will get any better, or did they believe this in days gone by only if they didn’t fear GOD and keep HIS commandments and pray? I, by the things I see and the things I hear, believe so. Conditions get worse and worse. I believe it is because that so many unrighteous people who call themselves children of GOD believe themselves to be righteous when they are not righteous at all, but are very presumptuous sinners. It has been revealed to me!

The prayer of Nehemiah tells the story. He and the nation of Israel were in captivity for seventy years, and still GOD had not let them return to their homeland Jerusalem. Nehemiah writes, “I was in Shushan the palace [he was still a prisoner], [then] Hanani, one of my brethren, came, he and certain men of Judah; and I asked them concerning the Jews that had escaped, which were left of the captivity, and concerning Jerusalem. And they said unto me, The remnant that are left of the captivity there in the province are in great affliction and reproach [as we are]: the wall of Jerusalem also is broken down, and the gates thereof are burned with fire.

“[So many professing Christians—that only profess to be Christians—think only of themselves. But Nehemiah said,] And it came to pass, when I heard these words, that I sat down and wept, and mourned certain days, and fasted, and prayed before the GOD of HEAVEN, and said, I beseech THEE, O LORD GOD of HEAVEN, the great and terrible GOD, that keeps covenant [your promises] and mercy for them that LOVE HIM AND OBSERVE HIS COMMANDMENTS: Let THINE ear now be attentive, and THINE eyes open, that YOU may hear the prayer of YOUR servant, which I pray before THEE now, day and night, for the children of Israel THY servants, and CONFESS the SINS of the children of Israel, which WE HAVE SINNED against THEE: both I and my father’s house have sinned. We have dealt very corruptly against THEE, and have not kept the commandments, nor the statutes, nor the judgments, which YOU commanded YOUR servant Moses. Remember, I beseech THEE, THE WORD that YOU commanded THY servant Moses, saying, If you transgress, I will scatter you abroad among the nations [the Gentiles]: But if you turn unto ME, and KEEP MY COMMANDMENTS, and DO THEM; though there were of you cast out unto the uttermost part of the Heaven, yet will I gather them from thence, and will bring them unto the place that I have chosen to set MY NAME there. Now these are THY servants and THY people, whom THOU hast redeemed by THY great power, and by THY strong hand. O LORD, I beseech THEE, let now THINE ear be attentive to the prayer of THY servant, and to the prayer of THY servants, who desire to fear THY NAME: and prosper, I pray THEE, THY servant this day, and grant him mercy in the sight of this man. For I am the king’s cupbearer. [A cupbearer is the one who drinks a glass of wine before the eyes of the king to verify there is no poison in the wine]” (Nehemiah 1:1-11).

GOD answered Nehemiah’s prayer. “And it came to pass in the month Nisan, in the twentieth year of Artaxerxes the king, that wine was before him: and I took up the wine, and gave it unto the king. Now I had not been beforetime sad in his presence. Wherefore the king said unto me, Why is thy countenance sad, seeing thou art not sick? this is nothing else but sorrow of heart. Then I was very sore afraid, And said unto the king, Let the king live for ever: why should not my countenance be sad, when the city, the place of my fathers' sepulchres, lieth waste, and the gates thereof are consumed with fire? Then the king said unto me, For what dost thou make request? So I prayed to the GOD of heaven. And I said unto the king, If it please the king, and if thy servant have found favour in thy sight, that thou wouldest send me unto Judah, unto the city of my fathers' sepulchres, that I may build it. And the king said unto me (the queen also sitting by him), For how long shall thy journey be? and when wilt thou return? So it pleased the king to send me; and I set him a time.

“Moreover I said unto the king, If it please the king, let letters be given me to the governors beyond the river, that they may convey me over till I come into Judah; And a letter unto Asaph the keeper of the king's forest, that he may give me timber to make beams for the gates of the palace which appertained to the house, and for the wall of the city, and for the house that I shall enter into. And the king granted me, according to the good hand of my GOD upon me. Then I came to the governors beyond the river, and gave them the king's letters. Now the king had sent captains of the army and horsemen with me” (Nehemiah 2:1-9). And the rest is history. Jerusalem was built, and the wall and gates were totally repaired. GOD will do the same for you, if you love HIM, keep HIS commandments, pray, and serve HIM with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength.1 Though a host should rise up against me, yet will I not fear: for THOU art with me (Psalm 27:3). GOD will be with you as well if you love HIM and keep HIS commandments. But you must be born again,2 and you can be born again. So start out being born again now by saying this prayer.

Prayer

My LORD and my GOD, have mercy upon my soul, a sinner. 1 I believe that JESUS CHRIST is the SON of the living GOD. 2 I believe that HE died on the cross and shed HIS precious blood for the forgiveness of all my former sins. 3 I believe that GOD raised JESUS from the dead by the power of the HOLY SPIRIT 4 and that HE sits on the right hand of GOD at this moment, hearing my confession of sin and this prayer. 5 I open up the door of my heart, and I invite YOU into my heart, LORD JESUS. 6 Wash all of my filthy sins away in the precious blood that YOU shed in my place on the cross at Calvary. 7 YOU will not turn me away, LORD JESUS; YOU will forgive my sins and save my soul. I know because YOUR WORD, the Bible, says so. 8 YOUR WORD says that YOU will turn no one away, and that includes me. 9 Therefore, I know that YOU have heard me, and I know that YOU have answered me, and I know that I am saved. 10 And I thank YOU, LORD JESUS, for saving my soul, and I will show my thankfulness by doing as YOU command and sin no more.11

Now that you are saved, serve GOD with all of your heart, soul, mind, and strength (Mark 12:30). Be baptized, fully submerged in water, in the name of the FATHER, the SON, and the HOLY SPIRIT (Mark 12:30).12

Study the King James Version of the Bible, and do what it says until the day you die.13

Then, as JESUS commands, be a soul-winner. You can do this by becoming a distributor of Pastor Alamo’s literature. We print Pastor Alamo’s literature in many languages, and we ship them all over the world. We spend millions of dollars on paper and shipping, so we need your prayers and financial help. If you want the world saved, as JESUS commands, then don’t rob GOD of HIS tithes and offerings. GOD said, “Will you rob GOD? Yet ye have robbed ME. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed THEE? In tithes and offerings. Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed ME, even this whole nation. Bring ye all the tithes [a ‘tithe’ is 10% of your gross income] into the storehouse, that there may be meat in MINE house [souls saved], and prove ME now herewith, saith the LORD of HOSTS, if I will not open you the windows of Heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the LORD of HOSTS. And all nations shall call you blessed: for ye shall be a delightsome land, saith the LORD of HOSTS” (Malachi 3:8-12).
