DISTRACTIONS

The WORD of GOD is seed.1 Seed grows if it’s watered, if it gets sunshine, and if it has been sown into good soil. JESUS likens four different kinds of people to four different kinds of soil: wayside, stony, thorny, and good (Matthew 13:4-8, 18-23). In the ministry, I have seen them all. I have sown into them all, so I am an experienced sower of GOD’S seed, which is HIS WORD.

The WORD, GOD’S seed, is supposed to be planted in people. People are to receive it on a daily basis so that it can grow to maturity.2 The WORD of GOD is not only seed, it is also sunshine and water given to make us grow into the fullness of the stature of CHRIST.3

It’s the WORD that has eternal life in it. It’s the seed of eternal life. When the seed of eternal life, the WORD of GOD, is planted into you, then you have eternal life. If you don’t receive the seed with the life of eternity in it, then you don’t have life. When Abraham was told that his seed, which is CHRIST, would bless many nations, that was only to those who accept the life that has eternity in it, which is CHRIST (Genesis 22:15-18). The WORD of GOD is the eternal life seed. If it’s in you, then it’s in you. If it’s not, then you’re not saved.

Distractions away from the WORD of GOD are very dangerous, and the world is full of them. They all come from the evil spirit of the devil (Matthew 13:22). The devil doesn’t want you to believe that he exists, but I know he does exist, and GOD wants you to know the devil exists as well. This is fundamental Bible teaching.4 If you won’t receive this part of the WORD, you won’t receive any of it.

Have you received the WORD of GOD with joy? This means you have received it in your heart, and you have endured true Christianity for a while. But wait. “When tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the WORD, by and by he is offended” (Matthew 13:21). He who is offended falls away, cannot grow to maturity, and therefore will never come to maturity. This satisfies Satan.

If you’ve been offended, get back to GOD through JESUS before it’s too late by saying this prayer:

Prayer

My LORD and my GOD, have mercy upon my soul, a sinner. 1 I believe that JESUS CHRIST is the SON of the living GOD. 2 I believe that HE died on the cross and shed HIS precious blood for the forgiveness of all my former sins. 3 I believe that GOD raised JESUS from the dead by the power of the HOLY SPIRIT 4 and that HE sits on the right hand of GOD at this moment, hearing my confession of sin and this prayer. 5 I open up the door of my heart, and I invite YOU into my heart, LORD JESUS. 6 Wash all of my filthy sins away in the precious blood that YOU shed in my place on the cross at Calvary. 7 YOU will not turn me away, LORD JESUS; YOU will forgive my sins and save my soul. I know because YOUR WORD, the Bible, says so. 8 YOUR WORD says that YOU will turn no one away, and that includes me. 9 Therefore, I know that YOU have heard me, and I know that YOU have answered me, and I know that I am saved. 10 And I thank YOU, LORD JESUS, for saving my soul, and I will show my thankfulness by doing as YOU command and sin no more.11
