MORE THAN A PROPHET

In the book of Matthew, chapter ten, JESUS gave HIS disciples the power to heal all manner of sickness, to heal the blind, the deaf, to cleanse the lepers, to raise the dead, to preach the gospel to the poor, and to make common men disciples of CHRIST and children of GOD.1 JESUS was the SON of MAN on the exterior, but inside, HE was the SPIRIT of GOD.2 HE was and still is GOD-MAN. HE was much more than a prophet, because no prophet before HIM or after HIM was ever able to give common men who believed in HIM the power to do all of these miracles.3

In chapter eleven of Matthew, verse one, when JESUS finished commanding HIS twelve disciples to do all these mighty works by the HOLY SPIRIT, HE departed to teach and to preach in the cities of Israel.

“Now when John [the Baptist] had heard in the prison the works of CHRIST, he sent two of his disciples, And said unto HIM, Are YOU HE that should come, or do we look for another? JESUS answered and said unto them, Go and show John AGAIN those things which ye do hear and see: The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them [If the people received the preaching of the gospel, it not only gave them eternal life, but would give them the powers JESUS gave all of HIS disciples]. And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in ME” (Matthew 11:2-6). JESUS warns us in advance not to be offended and lose faith because we will face persecution and trials for the stand we make, but HE promises to be with us and help us through everything we will face.4

“And as they [John’s disciples] departed, JESUS began to say unto the multitudes concerning John, What went you out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken with the wind? [A person who is afraid of his own shadow? A weakling, double-minded and unstable in all his ways?] But what went you out for to see? A man clothed in soft raiment [clothing]? behold, they that wear soft clothing are in kings’ houses [with the secular phonies, the hypocrites; this man John lives in the wilderness, wears camel’s hair and leather clothing, and eats locusts and wild honey5]. But what went you out for to see? A prophet? yes, I say unto you, and more than a prophet. [If John is more than a prophet, then how much more is JESUS, who is GOD inside?] For this is he, of whom it is written, Behold, I send MY messenger before THY face, which shall prepare THY way before THEE. Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there has not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of Heaven is greater than he” (Matthew 11:7-11). How is that? It is because John had not made it to Heaven yet. He had to face death. Even the least in the kingdom of Heaven have got it made! They are there, and they are there forever! This is why even the least in Heaven are greater.

JESUS continued, “And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of Heaven allows violence [GOD allows the enemy to persecute, prosecute with false accusations, put us in prisons, steal our children and our property, murder, commit sin], and the violent [which are of faith] take it [all the persecution, and continue the good fight of faith] by force [by the force of GOD’S HOLY SPIRIT power living and working in them as it does with JESUS]. For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John. And if ye will receive it, this is Elias [Elijah, prophesied to appear ahead of the MESSIAH6], which was for to come. He that has [spiritual] ears to hear, let him hear” (Matthew 11:12-15).

“But whereunto shall I liken this generation? It is like unto children [the immature] sitting in the markets, and calling unto their fellows, And saying, We have piped unto you [we have done carnal, secular things for you, and you didn’t react the way we wanted you to], and ye have not danced [amused us]; we have mourned unto you, and ye have not lamented. For John [the Baptist] came neither eating nor drinking, and they [the unsaved devils] say, he has a devil. The SON of MAN [JESUS] came eating and drinking, and they [the devilish people] say, Behold a man gluttonous, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners. [The wicked will always find fault with the righteous.] But wisdom is justified of her children” (Matthew 11:16-19). The fear of the LORD is wisdom (Job 28:28).7

Those who walk in the WORD of GOD, which is JESUS,8 know exactly what to do. They live in obedience to every word that proceeds from GOD’S mouth.9 They seek HIS will and walk in it. They never get drunk because no drunkard shall enter the kingdom of Heaven.10

The heathen call alcoholism a sickness. GOD would never send a person to Hell for being sick! Unclean spirits that have power over the unsaved focus on tempting you and causing you to sin. They must be driven out. When JESUS enters into a person who repents and asks HIM to come in and wash their sins away by HIS blood sacrifice, unclean spirits must flee. Then saved people have the power and authority over Satan to keep GOD’S commandments.

It is alright for people who are able to discipline themselves at weddings or anniversaries to have a little wine. JESUS changed water into wine at a wedding (John 2:3-11). But drunkards shall not go to Heaven. Not many people are able to control themselves with moderation. If this is a struggle for you, stay away from alcohol completely. It’s better than going to Hell.

“Then began HE to upbraid the cities wherein most of HIS mighty works were done, because they repented not [JESUS rebukes them]: Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works, which were done in you, had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes [which means fasting and fervent prayers]. But I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the day of judgment, than for you. And you, Capernaum, which art exalted unto Heaven, shalt be brought down to Hell: for if the mighty works, which have been done in thee, had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day. But I say unto you, it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment, than for thee” (Matthew 11:20-24).

Many know that they are called to serve the LORD, to leave their worldly ambitions, and put GOD’S work first. “For many are called, but few are chosen” (Matthew 22:14). How many of us make the choice to permanently follow the LORD with all our heart, soul, mind, and body? When someone told JESUS, Let us first bury our dead, and then we will come and follow YOU, JESUS replied, “Follow ME; and let the dead bury their dead” (Matthew 8:21-22). This life is short. GOD has, waiting for you, the most fulfilling and world-changing work that HE wants to do with you and in you—if you choose. HE gave HIS all for you on the cross. You owe HIM the same.

Paul stated, “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of GOD, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto GOD, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of GOD” (Romans 12:1-2).

JESUS said, “I thank THEE, O FATHER [living in ME], LORD of Heaven and earth, because THOU hast hid these things from the wise and prudent [their own foolish worldly wisdom and intellect], and hast revealed them unto babes. [The babes JESUS is speaking of are those who have recently chosen to serve the LORD and have been spiritually born again. All wisdom, knowledge, and understanding is given to those who become born again of the HOLY SPIRIT, washed in the sin-cleansing blood of JESUS.11] Even so, FATHER: for so it seemed good in THY sight” (Matthew 11:25-26).

“All things are delivered unto ME of MY FATHER [every soul that is in ME, GOD sent them unto ME. GOD, MY FATHER delivered them unto ME.]: and no man knoweth the SON, but the FATHER; neither knoweth any man the FATHER, except the SON, and he to whomsoever the SON will reveal HIM” (Matthew 11:27).

What good would it do you to follow a mere prophet? A prophet can tell you the future. They can warn you, but JESUS is far more than a prophet! HE says, “Come unto ME, all ye that labour and are heavy laden.” There are millions of things in this world that the whole human race is laboring over! A lost loved one, a lost job or home, family, illness and medical problems, no finances, the world conditions, so many heavy burdens too numerous to mention! All these things can be dealt with and worked out if you humble yourself, repent, and bring all your burdens to JESUS. Why JESUS? Because HE is your CREATOR, and HE has excellent, true promises for you (2 Peter 1:3-4). You must come to HIM because no one else in the entire universe can or will be able to change your circumstances like GOD can and wants to. HE also wants to bless you eternally and give you Heaven instead of the Hell you are headed for!12 HE says, “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear MY voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with ME. To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with ME in MY throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with MY FATHER in HIS throne” (Revelation 3:20-21).

“Come unto ME, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. TAKE MY YOKE [HIS business, HIS spiritual work], upon you, and learn of ME [from HIS WORD, the KJV]; for I [am not like the evil politicians and others who are led by devils, but I] am meek and lowly in heart: and you shall find rest unto your souls. For MY yoke [HIS spiritual work] is easy, and MY burden is light” (Matthew 11:28-30). JESUS will make it easy and light for you IF you surrender to HIS FATHER and HIM. Make the best decision of your life; do it now by saying these words to GOD:

Prayer

My LORD and my GOD, have mercy upon my soul, a sinner. 1 I believe that JESUS CHRIST is the SON of the living GOD. 2 I believe that HE died on the cross and shed HIS precious blood for the forgiveness of all my former sins. 3 I believe that GOD raised JESUS from the dead by the power of the HOLY SPIRIT 4 and that HE sits on the right hand of GOD at this moment, hearing my confession of sin and this prayer. 5 I open up the door of my heart, and I invite YOU into my heart, LORD JESUS. 6 Wash all of my filthy sins away in the precious blood that YOU shed in my place on the cross at Calvary. 7 YOU will not turn me away, LORD JESUS; YOU will forgive my sins and save my soul. I know because YOUR WORD, the Bible, says so. 8 YOUR WORD says that YOU will turn no one away, and that includes me. 9 Therefore, I know that YOU have heard me, and I know that YOU have answered me, and I know that I am saved. 10 And I thank YOU, LORD JESUS, for saving my soul, and I will show my thankfulness by doing as YOU command and sin no more.11

After salvation, JESUS said to be baptized, fully submerged in water, in the name of the FATHER, and of the SON, and of the HOLY SPIRIT.12 Then study the King James Version Bible, and, for your benefit and the benefit of others, do what it says.13

CHRIST and GOD the FATHER now live in you through the HOLY SPIRIT. There is a way you can receive a fuller portion of the divine nature of GOD in you. The more the divine nature of GOD lives in you, the more you will be able to stand against the temptations that have so easily moved so many millions of Christians away from salvation. Pray for the baptism in the HOLY SPIRIT.14 For instructions on how to receive the baptism in the HOLY SPIRIT and to receive more of GOD’S holy nature, ask for our literature or call. For without holiness, no man shall see GOD (Hebrews 12:14).

If you want the world saved, as JESUS commands, then don’t rob GOD of HIS tithes and offerings. GOD said, “Will a man rob GOD? Yet ye have robbed ME. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed THEE? In tithes and offerings. Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed ME, even this whole nation [and this whole world]. Bring ye all the tithes [a ‘tithe’ is 10% of your gross income] into the storehouse, that there may be meat [Spiritual food] in MINE house [souls saved], and prove ME now herewith, saith the LORD of HOSTS, if I will not open you the windows of Heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the LORD of HOSTS. And all nations shall call you blessed: for ye shall be a delightsome land, saith the LORD of HOSTS” (Malachi 3:8-12).
