PITIFUL

The Webster’s Dictionary states that “pity” means “sorrow for another’s suffering or misfortune, a cause for sorrow or regret, to feel pity.” James 5:11 states, “Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the LORD; that the LORD is very pitiful, and of tender mercy.”

James 5:13-20 asks, “Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms. Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the LORD: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the LORD shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

“Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months. And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit. Brethren, if any of you do err from the truth [deviate from established moral code], and one convert him; Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.” These are the commandments from the LORD through the Apostle James, the LORD’S half-brother, given to him by the HOLY SPIRIT.

Each commandment is like a glass of the HOLY SPIRIT to drink, just as JESUS said to HIS FATHER in Heaven.1 Matthew 26:39 shows us that JESUS “fell on HIS face, and prayed, saying, O MY FATHER, if it be possible, let this cup pass from ME: nevertheless not as I will, but as THOU wilt.” JESUS, being filled with pity for all humanity, was more concerned for the souls of all living than for HIMSELF. If JESUS hadn’t done the will of HIS FATHER, none of us could ever enter Heaven, and if we don’t do the will of HIS FATHER, who is also our FATHER, we will never be an example to others, demonstrating why they should be followers of CHRIST and be part of HIS body.2 We are HIS body!3 The world can see that we are CHRIST’S body by our obedience to the work which HE has given us to do, as joints and bands in HIS body.4

CHRIST tried to find another way. HE despised the shame of the cross (Hebrews 12:2), but HE did what HE had to do because HE pitied the poor souls here on earth. It is written that “we shall be like HIM” (1 John 3:2). In other words, we shall be filled with pity, very concerned about the salvation of souls.5

First John 3:2 states, “Beloved, now are we the sons of GOD, and it does not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when HE shall appear, we shall be like HIM; for we shall see HIM as HE is.” This is because we see HIM as HE is from the scriptures in this present world. We that have pity on the lost souls in this world do not follow our own will, but discipline ourselves to do the will of HIM who sent us to do HIS will.

The Apostle Paul did the same. He stated in First Corinthians 9:27, “But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection [under the discipline of the HOLY SPIRIT]: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.” This is why the LORD tells us to deny ourselves and follow HIM (Luke 9:23).

Matthew 16:24-26 states, “Then said JESUS unto HIS disciples, If any man will come after ME, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow ME. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for MY sake shall find it. For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?”

If anyone tries to influence you towards leaving the commandments of the LORD, they have been sent to you by the devil.6 This is why if your own mother, father, sister, brother, son, daughter, wife, or supposed-to-be friend attempts to draw you away from following the LORD and doing HIS will, they are attempting to send your soul to Hell. You are to hate that for your own soul’s sake, and for the sake of the souls you will teach in the future to serve the LORD so that they, too, may obtain peace with GOD and enter Heaven. This is why JESUS said what HE did in Luke 14:25-26: “And there went great multitudes with HIM: and HE turned, and said unto them, If any man come to ME, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be MY disciple.”7

John 1:1 and 14 state that JESUS is the WORD: “In the beginning was the WORD, and the WORD was with GOD, and the WORD was GOD... And the WORD was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld HIS glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the FATHER,) full of grace and truth.” This WORD is JESUS, GOD who came to this world in the flesh, and if you put anything or anybody before HIM, you are not worthy of HIM or of Heaven (Matthew 10:37-38). Instead, you are only worthy of Hell and the Lake of Fire.8

JESUS took care of every detail of our salvation, so if we wish to be HIS disciples, we are to be concerned about every detail of HIS WORD, such as being pitiful—filled with pity—just as HE is.9 When JESUS fed the five thousand with five barley loaves and three fishes, HIS disciples gathered up twelve baskets of fragments over and above what five thousand men, plus women and children, ate. The WORDS of JESUS are the bread of Life (John 6:32-58). Gathering the fragments of bread is symbolic of gathering and cherishing every WORD, every detail of the WORD of GOD. The WORD of GOD is precious, is never to be refused, and never to be forgotten.10 It tells us we are to be filled with pity, concerned about every living soul, by simply drinking of every cup, every obligation, which is handed to us by GOD and by the WORD.11

Again, “Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the LORD; that the LORD is very pitiful, and of tender mercy” (James 5:11). The Bible says that mercy begets mercy, and that is all we will be looking for on Judgment Day (Matthew 5:7).12 James 2:13 states, “For he shall have judgment without mercy, that hath showed no mercy; and mercy rejoiceth against judgment.” So, it behooves everyone to be filled with pity. Start out now by saying this prayer:

Prayer

My LORD and my GOD, have mercy upon my soul, a sinner. 1 I believe that JESUS CHRIST is the SON of the living GOD. 2 I believe that HE died on the cross and shed HIS precious blood for the forgiveness of all my former sins. 3 I believe that GOD raised JESUS from the dead by the power of the HOLY SPIRIT 4 and that HE sits on the right hand of GOD at this moment, hearing my confession of sin and this prayer. 5 I open up the door of my heart, and I invite YOU into my heart, LORD JESUS. 6 Wash all of my filthy sins away in the precious blood that YOU shed in my place on the cross at Calvary. 7 YOU will not turn me away, LORD JESUS; YOU will forgive my sins and save my soul. I know because YOUR WORD, the Bible, says so. 8 YOUR WORD says that YOU will turn no one away, and that includes me. 9 Therefore, I know that YOU have heard me, and I know that YOU have answered me, and I know that I am saved. 10 And I thank YOU, LORD JESUS, for saving my soul, and I will show my thankfulness by doing as YOU command and sin no more.11

After salvation, JESUS said to be baptized, fully submerged in water, in the name of the FATHER, and of the SON, and of the HOLY SPIRIT.12 Then study the King James Version Bible, and, for your benefit and the benefit of others, do what it says.13

CHRIST and GOD the FATHER now live in you through the HOLY SPIRIT. There is a way you can receive a fuller portion of the divine nature of GOD in you. The more the divine nature of GOD lives in you, the more you will be able to stand against the temptations that have so easily moved so many millions of Christians away from salvation. Pray for the baptism in the HOLY SPIRIT.14 For instructions on how to receive the baptism in the HOLY SPIRIT and to receive more of GOD’S holy nature, ask for our literature or call. For without holiness, no man shall see GOD (Hebrews 12:14).

If you want the world saved, as JESUS commands, then don’t rob GOD of HIS tithes and offerings. GOD said, “Will a man rob GOD? Yet ye have robbed ME. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed THEE? In tithes and offerings. Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed ME, even this whole nation [and this whole world]. Bring ye all the tithes [a ‘tithe’ is 10% of your gross income] into the storehouse, that there may be meat [Spiritual food] in MINE house [souls saved], and prove ME now herewith, saith the LORD of HOSTS, if I will not open you the windows of Heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the LORD of HOSTS. And all nations shall call you blessed: for ye shall be a delightsome land, saith the LORD of HOSTS” (Malachi 3:8-12).
