SPIRITUAL NOURISHMENT

In the Bible, GOD uses parables and scale models so that people will understand the important things HE wants us to know.1 We are human, made out of dust,2 and sometimes we have hard heads, so GOD uses these methods to get HIS messages through to us.

There is no point in reading the WORD of GOD if we don’t understand what it means.3 The WORD of GOD tells us that we need to seek the milk of the WORD when we first become born again of the SPIRIT.4 “As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the WORD, that ye may grow thereby” (1 Peter 2:2). This is because when we are new Christians, we are unable to assimilate anything more. We are like new blades of grass or wheat that first shoot up out of the earth. At this time, we are too young in the LORD to receive too much water, or too much food. We take small feedings many times throughout the day so we can grow, just as a small human baby is fed small amounts many times a day. Small babies can’t eat adult food. After they become toddlers, they begin eating strained baby food, graduating up to that which has a little more substance. If we try to give them beef steak, they will choke to death because they are unable to chew it and digest it. The same goes for new believers in JESUS.

In 1 Corinthians 3:2, the Apostle Paul states, “I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able.” Paul told this to the carnal congregation in Corinth because they were immature and not spiritually-minded (1 Corinthians 3:1-8).5

In Ezekiel chapter 4, the LORD commanded the prophet to take a tile and make a scale model of Jerusalem so HE could warn the people of Israel of the destruction that would come upon Jerusalem because of their sins. GOD uses many methods to bring souls out of the darkness of sin and rebellion against HIM unto repentance and restoration. By this forewarning, they had another chance (after many previous warnings) to turn from their idolatry as they saw destruction come upon them.

“Thou also, son of man, take thee a tile, and lay it before thee, and portray upon it the city, even Jerusalem: And lay siege against it, and build a fort against it, and cast a mount against it; set the camp also against it, and set battering rams against it round about. Moreover take thou unto thee an iron pan, and set it for a wall of iron between thee and the city: and set thy face against it, and it shall be besieged, and thou shalt lay siege against it. This shall be a sign to the house of Israel” (Ezekiel 4:1-3). “For they have refused MY judgments and MY statutes, they have not walked in them” (Ezekiel 5:6).

In 1 Corinthians 10:17, the Apostle Paul tells the body of believers in JESUS, “For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all partakers of that one bread.” The bread of life is JESUS6 In chapter 11, the Apostle Paul shows us what the bread or CHRIST’S body is. He states, “For I have received of the LORD that which also I delivered unto you, That the LORD JESUS the same night in which HE was betrayed took bread [we are the bread, one bread]: And when HE had given thanks, HE brake it [we have no communion with GOD until we are broken], and said, Take, eat: this is MY body [we are HIS body], which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of ME” (1 Corinthians 11:23-24).

This is what Holy Communion is—fellowship with GOD (communing and communicating with GOD continually). As the Apostle Peter tells us, we are the members of CHRIST’S body, a scale model of the communion with CHRIST, who is the head of HIS body, HIS bread.

The LORD allows us to go through trials. Job said, “But HE knoweth the way that I take: when HE hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold” (Job 23:10). The LORD said, “And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on MY name, and I will hear them: I will say, It is MY people: and they shall say, The LORD is my GOD” (Zechariah 13:9). “That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of JESUS CHRIST” (1 Peter 1:7).

“Think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of CHRIST’S sufferings [breaking like the breaking of bread]; that, when HIS glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy. If ye be reproached [broken] for the name of CHRIST [as we, CHRIST’S body, must be in order to be HIS body], happy are ye; for the SPIRIT of glory and of GOD resteth upon you: on their part HE is evil spoken of, but on your part HE is glorified” (1 Peter 4:12-14).

Holy Communion is not just a ritual. It is a scale model of that which we are to participate in, CHRIST’S sufferings as CHRIST’S body, in order for us to know CHRIST, HIS life, the cross, as well as to know what the whole WORD of GOD means.7 HE said, This is MY body, which HE (JESUS) has broken for us. It is for our benefit that we are to be broken. Our mind, will, and emotions must be elevated by the mind of CHRIST, so that HIS will can be accomplished through us.8

Psalm 34:18 states: “The LORD is nigh [near] unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.” A contrite spirit is a soul that is sorrowful over former sins which have been fully and permanently repented of. We, as CHRIST’S body, must be broken by HIM. HE is the one that breaks the bread, which is us, HIS body.9 JESUS said, “Whosoever shall fall on this stone [JESUS] shall be broken: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder” (Matthew 21:44).

Again, JESUS said through the Apostle Paul, “Take, eat [in other words, do what I have done, live MY life so you are able to be MY body]: [you are] MY body, which is broken for you [for your soul’s salvation]: this do [keep doing] in remembrance of ME [remember always the kind of life that we have been called to live]. After the same manner also HE took the cup, when HE had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in MY blood [a scale model of how we must be faithful as HIS body, even to the death10]: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of ME [which is often, for we cannot forget our calling, to live the life of CHRIST]” (1 Corinthians 11:24-25).

JESUS said, “I am the resurrection, and the life” (John 11:25). We are to always remember that we, by the HOLY SPIRIT, must live the kind of life HE lived in HIS mortal body by the power of the HOLY SPIRIT.11 “For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do show the LORD’S death till HE come” (1 Corinthians 11:26). The Apostle Paul says that he does just that. In 1 Corinthians 15:31, he said, “In CHRIST JESUS our LORD, I die daily.”

In 1 Corinthians 11:27, Paul says, “Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the LORD, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the LORD.” Whosoever is not living by the SPIRIT, but continues in a life of sin, cannot be HIS body. They have fallen away from the SPIRIT of GOD.12 Living the life of CHRIST is a 24/7 situation. It is not just going to church twice a week for an hour, then going to a restaurant for a chicken dinner afterwards. Those who do such things are not the body of CHRIST, and they shall fall away during times of testing and tribulation, which is very near. They are, at best, lukewarm.

We are currently living in the period of time of which JESUS spoke in Matthew 24:21. “For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.” As JESUS stated in the parable of the sower, when tribulation comes, many will be offended at being members of CHRIST’S body and shall fall away (Matthew 13:3-9, 18-30). They become offended at having to surrender their lives of sin, and being broken for HIM, which in reality is being broken for themselves so that they may enjoy eternity in Heaven.13

“And [JESUS] said to them all, If any man will come after ME, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow ME. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for MY sake, the same shall save it. For what is a man advantaged, if he gain the whole world, and lose himself, or be cast away?” (Luke 9:23-25).

Second Timothy 2:3 states: “Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of JESUS CHRIST.” JESUS said, “And ye shall be hated of all men for MY name’s sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved” (Matthew 10:22).

CHRIST speaks to all of HIS churches, showing that it is possible to fall away from HIS body, HIS SPIRIT, HIS life, in these words: “I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spew thee out of MY mouth [out of MY body]. Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked [You are not partaking in Holy Communion with ME, abiding in ME, being led by ME, living in constant communion with ME and sharing in MY body and MY blood. Your life is in the blood (Leviticus 17:11, 14)14]: I counsel thee to buy of ME gold tried in the fire [become part of the one bread, MY body], that thou mayest be rich [eternally rich]; and white raiment [sinless, pure], that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eye salve [study the Bible with all of your heart, soul, mind, and spirit], that thou mayest see” (Revelation 3:15-18).

The book of James states, “Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with GOD? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of GOD” (James 4:4). We must be separate from the world of sin and walk in holiness as HE is holy.15

The Apostle Paul wrote, “Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of CHRIST JESUS my LORD: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win CHRIST, And be found in HIM, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of CHRIST, the righteousness which is of GOD by faith: That I may know HIM, and the power of HIS resurrection, and the fellowship of HIS sufferings, being made conformable unto HIS death; If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead” (Philippians 3:8-11).

“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of GOD, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto GOD, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of GOD” (Romans 12:1-2).

There is so much to do, and so little time to do it! The Gospel must be delivered to the whole earth before the LORD returns.16 This is the life mission of every follower of JESUS.17 Our lives are like shadows, vapors, grass, which appears in the morning and is cut down at night.18 Study the WORD of GOD, for it is your very life (2 Timothy 2:15). Those of you who have fallen away or become lukewarm, repent and become part of the soul-winning body of CHRIST. Those of you who have not yet known CHRIST as your personal SAVIOR, begin your new walk with HIM now by repenting of all sin and making JESUS your LORD. Start now by saying this prayer:

Prayer

My LORD and my GOD, have mercy upon my soul, a sinner. 1 I believe that JESUS CHRIST is the SON of the living GOD. 2 I believe that HE died on the cross and shed HIS precious blood for the forgiveness of all my former sins. 3 I believe that GOD raised JESUS from the dead by the power of the HOLY SPIRIT 4 and that HE sits on the right hand of GOD at this moment, hearing my confession of sin and this prayer. 5 I open up the door of my heart, and I invite YOU into my heart, LORD JESUS. 6 Wash all of my filthy sins away in the precious blood that YOU shed in my place on the cross at Calvary. 7 YOU will not turn me away, LORD JESUS; YOU will forgive my sins and save my soul. I know because YOUR WORD, the Bible, says so. 8 YOUR WORD says that YOU will turn no one away, and that includes me. 9 Therefore, I know that YOU have heard me, and I know that YOU have answered me, and I know that I am saved. 10 And I thank YOU, LORD JESUS, for saving my soul, and I will show my thankfulness by doing as YOU command and sin no more.11

After salvation, JESUS said to be baptized, fully submerged in water, in the name of the FATHER, and of the SON, and of the HOLY SPIRIT.12 Then study the King James Version Bible, and, for your benefit and the benefit of others, do what it says.13

CHRIST and GOD the FATHER now live in you through the HOLY SPIRIT. There is a way you can receive a fuller portion of the divine nature of GOD in you. The more the divine nature of GOD lives in you, the more you will be able to stand against the temptations that have so easily moved so many millions of Christians away from salvation. Pray for the baptism in the HOLY SPIRIT.14 For instructions on how to receive the baptism in the HOLY SPIRIT and to receive more of GOD’S holy nature, ask for our literature or call. For without holiness, no man shall see GOD (Hebrews 12:14).

If you want the world saved, as JESUS commands, then don’t rob GOD of HIS tithes and offerings. GOD said, “Will a man rob GOD? Yet ye have robbed ME. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed THEE? In tithes and offerings. Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed ME, even this whole nation [and this whole world]. Bring ye all the tithes [a ‘tithe’ is 10% of your gross income] into the storehouse, that there may be meat [Spiritual food] in MINE house [souls saved], and prove ME now herewith, saith the LORD of HOSTS, if I will not open you the windows of Heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the LORD of HOSTS. And all nations shall call you blessed: for ye shall be a delightsome land, saith the LORD of HOSTS” (Malachi 3:8-12).
