SUICIDE IS SIN

by Tony Alamo

A young woman begged her mother to let her stay at our church because she loved the LORD so much and loved the church. She was thirteen years old. Her brother had been living at the church for about eight years at that time. She would visit during the summer. Her older brother’s name was Ed Mick. He had been one of the major drug dealers in Hollywood, California, before Sue and I won him to the LORD.

One day Ed received a phone call from a hospital because his mother allegedly drove his father insane, causing him to shoot a bullet in his head. He had committed suicide. The nurse on the other end of the line stated, “Your father has expired.”

The mother also refused to allow her daughter to stay at our church, so even after we warned her daughter about committing suicide, she shot a bullet in her head. She killed herself because she was so depressed while living with her mother in Blytheville, Arkansas. She didn’t die immediately. She was in a Memphis hospital, so Sue and I arranged for her brother, Ed Mick to see her before she died. Sue and I left Nashville and were there at the hospital as well. The hospital would not allow Sue and me into her room because we were not her next of kin, but they let her brother in. He told us that tears were rolling down her face. Suddenly, she actually sat up, with a big smile on her face and her hands in the air. Then she fell back down onto the bed and died.

This young woman committed suicide because her mother would not allow her to serve the LORD. In a case like that, the LORD was obviously merciful unto her and allowed her into Heaven. Otherwise, she would not have had that smile on her face when the LORD came to get her. However, this is not true with most suicides. The young lady obviously was repenting or tears would not have rolled down her face. Her brother began talking to her, but the LORD checked him severely, so the LORD was obviously telling her about the horrible thing she had done. She had become a murderer—a murderer of herself. We don’t belong to ourselves. JESUS bought us with HIS blood!1 When JESUS owns something, it’s HIS, and you don’t have the right to take it or murder it.

A few years later, her brother Ed committed suicide as well. The demon of suicide had run rampant in that family. They blamed the mother, but everyone that commits suicide will stand judgment for what they have done.2

Hebrews 9:26-28 states, “For then must HE [JESUS] often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath HE appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of HIMSELF. And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: So CHRIST was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for HIM shall HE appear the second time without sin unto salvation.”

Ed Mick’s father was a police officer in Blytheville, Arkansas, which is just a few hours from Nashville, Tennessee. His case and Ed Mick’s case was much different from the young lady’s case. Ed left the LORD. He became a thief and an adulterer. He more than likely committed suicide because of despair. That possibly was also the case with the father, because of his wife.

In 1964, the LORD called me into this ministry to tell the world that JESUS is coming back to earth again soon. In 1964, I knew that things were not right, but I had never heard anyone preaching that JESUS CHRIST is coming back to earth again.

After my supernatural experience with GOD, GOD supernaturally put Susie and me together. We have bombarded the earth with that message to the point that everyone seems to believe JESUS the LORD is coming back to earth again. It is the end of time, and the whole world seems to know it! The world is full of despair because we are living in the times which JESUS said are “the beginning of sorrows” (Matthew 24:8). This is just before the great tribulations mentioned in Matthew chapter 24 and the book of Revelation.

Many people are committing suicide today. It is an epidemic. People believe that they are going through hard times, and many of us are going through hard times. Many believe that there is no future here on earth because the earth is condemned and is going to burn.3

Second Peter 3:10-12 states, “But the day of the LORD will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all Holy conversation and Godliness, Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of GOD, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?”

There are billions of people in the world that are suffering great oppression from the elements of evil and darkness. They are living in despair. They pray that they may die. Many commit suicide, and probably many others are contemplating committing suicide, but the WORD of GOD, CHRIST, tells us that HE died and shed HIS blood for us.4 HIS blood is the price with which HE bought us. Do you discount this as billions of others do? If Hell was not so bad, why would GOD come to earth as a man, live a perfect life without sin, and suffer the cruelest of all deaths for us, so if we believe in HIM, we don’t have to go to Hell?5 CHRIST went to Hell for us.6

GOD didn’t just tell me that JESUS was coming back to earth again. That message came with dreams and visions of Heaven and Hell. People say, “How do you know there is a Hell when no one has ever seen it?” I have seen it. Others ask, “How do we know that there is a Heaven when no one has ever seen it?” I have, and I am sure that many others living today have seen it as well. Heaven is wonderful,7 and Hell is more awful than anyone can possibly imagine or declare.8 There are not adequate words in any language to explain how awful Hell is and how beautiful and wonderful Heaven is (1 Corinthians 2:9). This is why GOD tells us in 2 Timothy 2:3-4, “Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of JESUS CHRIST. No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please HIM who hath chosen him to be a soldier.”

Things are bad and are getting worse in the world, but compared to Hell, this is a Sunday school picnic. One of the most foolish things you could ever do is to commit suicide. Some of us are enduring hardness because of our stand for the LORD, for the WORD of GOD, but billions of others are enduring hardness because they belong to hateful, false religions, or because of their lust of the flesh, the lust of their eyes, and their pride of life (1 John 2:16). GOD will not allow us to have our own doctrine and do our own will without paying for it.9

Hebrews 12:5-7 and 9 states, “And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the LORD, nor faint when thou art rebuked of HIM: For whom the LORD loveth HE chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom HE receiveth. If ye endure chastening, GOD dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the FATHER chasteneth not?...Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the FATHER of spirits, and live?”

Hebrews 12:13-15 states, “And make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way; but let it rather be healed. Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the LORD: Looking diligently lest any man fail of the power of GOD; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled.”

So many people are defiled and filled with bitterness. This is because GOD is allowing Satan to torment the ungodly people in the hope that they will be brought to repentance.10 Remember, GOD is allowing this because HE loves us and wants us to repent from our disobedience to HIM so that we can enter Heaven instead of Hell.11

There are only two routes people can go with this. One is to be angry at GOD, to be bitter and lash out at HIM, and the other is to repent, to ask GOD to forgive us and deliver us from the torment GOD allows the devil to give us.

Revelation 9:3-6 states, “And there came out of the smoke locusts upon the earth: and unto them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power. And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree; but only those men which have not the seal of GOD in their foreheads. And to them it was given that they should not kill them, but that they should be tormented five months: and their torment was as the torment of a scorpion, when he striketh a man. And in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it; and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them.” Verse 10 states, “And they [the locusts] had tails like unto scorpions, and there were stings in their tails: and their power was to hurt men five months.”

It was tormenting for me as a child to receive a spanking with a hickory stick. It was torment at the time, but if your Christian parents love you, they will spank you when you need it because they don’t want you to go to Hell.12

Revelation 9:6 tells of those who pray to die because they are being tormented so much, but can’t find death. Just think of how awful it will be in Hell when the souls of people will be praying to pass out or to die, even though they will know as truth that they will never be able to pass out or die. The torments there will be not a billion but a trillion times worse than all of the torments in this world put together.

Well, what can we do about it? Certainly we cannot complain about it. Count your blessings that you are still alive, not in Hell, and are able to repent. Count your many blessings. Count them one by one, and you will be amazed at what the LORD has done.13

To be born again of the SPIRIT, say this prayer, then learn the WORD of GOD (KJV), and serve GOD with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength.

Prayer

My LORD and my GOD, have mercy upon my soul, a sinner. 1 I believe that JESUS CHRIST is the SON of the living GOD. 2 I believe that HE died on the cross and shed HIS precious blood for the forgiveness of all my former sins. 3 I believe that GOD raised JESUS from the dead by the power of the HOLY SPIRIT 4 and that HE sits on the right hand of GOD at this moment, hearing my confession of sin and this prayer. 5 I open up the door of my heart, and I invite YOU into my heart, LORD JESUS. 6 Wash all of my filthy sins away in the precious blood that YOU shed in my place on the cross at Calvary. 7 YOU will not turn me away, LORD JESUS; YOU will forgive my sins and save my soul. I know because YOUR WORD, the Bible, says so. 8 YOUR WORD says that YOU will turn no one away, and that includes me. 9 Therefore, I know that YOU have heard me, and I know that YOU have answered me, and I know that I am saved. 10 And I thank YOU, LORD JESUS, for saving my soul, and I will show my thankfulness by doing as YOU command and sin no more.11

Now that you are saved, make sure you are baptized, fully submerged in water, in the name of the FATHER, in the name of the SON, and in the name of the HOLY SPIRIT (Matthew 28:18-20). Serve GOD with all of your heart, soul, mind, and strength (Mark 12:30). Study the scriptures, and do what they say until the day you die (2 Timothy 2:15, 3:14-17).
