AMISS
by Tony Alamo
The Holy Spirit says through His servant James, “From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members? Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not. Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask AMISS, that ye may consume it upon your lusts. Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God,” (James 4:1-3).
The word amiss means “wrong, faulty, out of order, improper, contrary to propriety, to truth, to law, or to morality.” If the way people are praying amiss is wrong, then what is the right way to pray?
Jesus had cursed a fig tree one day because it didn’t (wouldn’t) bear fruit when it saw the Son of God, who was also the Son of man, coming his way and hungry. The next day, Peter said to Jesus, “Master, behold, the fig tree which Thou cursedst is withered away. And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God. For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain [difficulties and problems], Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them [that you already have them], and ye shall have them.
“And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in Heaven may forgive you your trespasses. But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in Heaven [higher than you] forgive your trespasses” (Mark 11:21-26). (If there is sin on your soul, you are separated from God, and because of this, you cannot receive what you are praying for and you can add the sin of disobedience, which again means God will not answer your prayers and you will not bear any spiritual or Godly fruit.) God is more stubborn than you and I. Believe that too, because it’s true!
In Mark 9:23, Jesus said, “If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.” Everything depends on our faith in God, faith in Jesus, and believing everything God in Jesus says.1
Jacob is known to be a supplanter by popular etymology, but he loved God’s promises, while his brother Esau “trashed” everything of God.2 This is why God loved Jacob and hated Esau.3 God protects Jacob and his people. (Bible dictionaries downgrade Jacob, but God does not degrade him. The birthright was Jacob’s from birth. Genesis 25:23: “The Lord said unto [Rebekah], Two nations are in thy womb, and two manner of people shall be separated from thy bowels; and the one people shall be stronger than the other people; and the elder shall serve the younger [Esau shall serve Jacob].”
When Isaac was old, he was almost blind. Jacob deceived him into believing he was Esau. So Isaac blessed Jacob with the blessings that were assumedly for (Esau) the firstborn (Gen. 27:21-30). Jacob did deceive his father, but he couldn’t deceive God. Neither you nor any one can deceive God. He absolutely knows whether or not you love Him and are praying amiss or not, so don’t even try to think otherwise, if you really want a favorable answer to your prayers.
The world is finished, all over. The curse of bad economics is a joke in comparison to what’s coming, curses which are soon on their way from the Almighty God (Rev. 6:8, 12-17, 8:7-13, chapter 9, 15:1, chapter 16, 18:8). There is your eternal soul, and the eternal souls of your loved ones to be concerned about, as well as all the souls that Jesus died for. Eternity is at the door. There are hundreds of more Scriptures regarding sincere prayer, sincere faith, sincere belief. You’ll find them in your Bible and Bible concordance. You’re wasting your time if you’re praying amiss!!
Pray now for God in the name of Jesus to save your soul with this sincere prayer to the Lord:
My Lord and my God, have mercy upon my soul, a sinner. 1 I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of the Living God. 2 I believe that He died on the cross and shed His precious blood for the forgiveness of all my sins. 3 I believe that God raised Jesus from the dead by the power of the Holy Spirit 4 and that He sits on the right hand of God at this moment, hearing my confession of sin and this prayer. 5 I open up the door of my heart and I invite You into my heart, Lord Jesus. 6 Wash all of my filthy sins away in the precious blood that You shed in my place on the cross at Calvary. 7 You will not turn me away, Lord Jesus, You will forgive my sins and save my soul. I know because Your Word, the Bible says so. 8 Your Word says that You will turn no one away, and that includes me. 9 Therefore, I know that You have heard me, and I know that You have answered me, and I know that I am saved. 10 And I thank You, Lord Jesus, for saving my soul, and I will show my thankfulness by doing as You command and sin no more. 11
You've just completed the first step in a series of five steps which are necessary to receive salvation. Your second step is to deny yourself and take up the cross daily for the purpose of mortifying yourself, that is, for putting to death your own will, your soulful self, and the world with all of its lusts. All these must be baptized into the death of Christ.
Step three is your resurrection from the satanic life of Adam unto the sinless life of Christ. Step four is your ascension into a position of authority to reign for God on earth, and the fifth step is to reign for God on earth to the end for the purpose of bringing about the kingdom of Heaven on earth. You must learn the Word of God, then submit yourself and do what the Word says, so that the Church and the world may see evidence of your submission to God's Word, His order, and His authority in and by you.
Praise the Lord. May God reward you abundantly.
