BE COMFORTED

The evidence of GOD’S good judgments can be seen throughout all of history. The Bible is the truthful record of world history. When King David wrote, “I remembered THY judgments of old, O LORD; and have comforted myself” (Psalm 119:52), he had not much more in his possession than the five books of Moses. However, at this time, GOD had already established HIMSELF as the GOD of judgment by HIS throwing Satan and the evil angels from Heaven down to earth, then soon to be cast into the Lake of Fire forever.1 Then, the book of Genesis reveals the judgment of Adam by GOD punishing him and his posterity for his sin of disobedience (Genesis 3:17-24).2 We see GOD’S judgment in HIS punishment of Cain;3 by HIS saving Noah, a righteous man, while drowning millions of souls in the worldwide flood;4 and by HIS sparing just Lot and destroying the inhabitants of Sodom and Gomorrah with fire, which fell from Heaven.5

Then, the book of Exodus describes the ten plagues GOD sent upon Egypt,6 and the destruction of Pharaoh and his entire army in the Red Sea.7 GOD’S judgments are also shown by HIS leaving to die in the wilderness the unbelieving Israelites who rebelled and refused to enter Canaan,8 and by HIS giving the land and the wealth of these wicked nations to Joshua and his army when they went in to possess the land of Canaan.9

GOD’S judgments are examples for us and warnings to wake up careless, godless people, so they will fear GOD, and take HIS WORD seriously, lest the same judgments befall them for their sin of ignoring HIM.10 GOD makes no idle threats, unlike people who are given more to talk than to action, but GOD’S warnings are HIS promises.

GOD’S intention to keep HIS fearful judgments to be remembered as preventatives to evil were established when JESUS declared, “Remember Lot’s wife,” who perished for looking back with affection at the sinful city of Sodom (Luke 17:32).

Then, the Apostle Paul, Peter, and Jude all refer to GOD’S judgments of old when warning end-time Bible believers against the judgments of apostasy, the falling away from CHRIST (1 Corinthians 10:1-12, 2 Peter 2:4-8, Jude 4-7 Revelation 3:14-19).

How can a Christian, who is to lovingly demonstrate the meekness and gentleness of CHRIST toward all men, even to the loving of his enemies, comfort himself by the judgments that overtake the wicked? One of many answers is found in Romans 15:4: “For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope.” GOD’S WORD in the Bible, as well as HIS works throughout the earth, reveal HIS unchanging character so that HIS people in their present persecutions and tribulations will not despair of hope. It is the JUDGE of all the earth who shall do right (Genesis 18:25), not the unbridled passions of wicked men. GOD sets the bounds of the sufferings of HIS children, and says to the proud oppressors, “Hitherto shalt thou come, but no further: and here shall thy proud waves be stayed” (Job 38:11).

It is the LORD who comforts afflicted Zion, HIS church, by avenging her of her adversaries and saying, “Thou shalt arise, and have mercy upon Zion: for the time to favour her, yea, the set time, is come” (Psalm 102:13, Luke 18:7-8). What the LORD does should not cause sorrow to those who are HIS own. When GOD revives HIS church, all the popes, persecutors, and wicked people of the world will not stop HIM, as church history reveals in the book of Acts. This was also seen in the 1960s and ‘70s, when GOD poured out HIS SPIRIT on the new believers at my wife Susie’s and my church in Hollywood, California.11

We can now have lasting comfort, knowing GOD’S great love for all humanity. JESUS proved it when HE took stripes and beatings so we could be healed,12 and then willingly was crucified in order to obtain  forgiveness of our sins so that our communion with GOD the FATHER would be restored.13 “GOD commendeth HIS love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, CHRIST died for us. Much more then, being now justified by HIS blood, we shall be saved from wrath through HIM” (Romans 5:8-9).

In addition, we are blessed with incredible promises when we make JESUS our LORD. “Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these you might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust” (2 Peter 1:4). “And if children, then heirs; heirs of GOD, and joint-heirs with CHRIST; if so be that we suffer with HIM, that we may be also glorified together. For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us” (Romans 8:17-18).

We live in a broken world where Satan is the prince of this world—but only temporarily.14 JESUS told us the evil one comes to “steal, kill, and destroy,” but GOD came to destroy the works of the devil.15 Due to Satan and his demons on earth, bad things happen to all of us. People who do not study the WORD of GOD sometimes say, “Why did GOD allow this to happen?” But GOD replies, “Why did YOU allow this to happen?” We are not only the children of GOD, but we have also been given authority over the powers of darkness.16 JESUS gave this authority to ALL believers. HE said, “Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you” (Luke 10:19).

JESUS stated, “Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever you shall bind on earth shall be bound in Heaven: and whatsoever you shall loose on earth shall be loosed in Heaven. Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of MY FATHER which is in Heaven” (Matthew 18:18-19). We are given these keys to the kingdom of Heaven to change this world for good and stop the evil the devil attempts to create (Matthew 16:19). If we fail to use our authority to bind and forbid evil, it is our own fault when wickedness is running rampant and unchecked.

As parents, we are also responsible before GOD to teach our children the right way in which they should live. GOD commanded Moses to speak these words to the children of Israel:17 “And thou shalt love the LORD thy GOD with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up” (Deuteronomy 6:5-7). “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it” (Proverbs 22:6).

We need to remind ourselves of the Apostle Peter’s words: “The LORD knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished,” for it shall surely be done by HIM (2 Peter 2:9).

The book of Revelation states, “And I saw a great white throne, and HIM that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before GOD; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.…And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the Lake of Fire” (Revelation 20:11-12, 15).

GOD’S children rejoice that “When THY judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness” (Isaiah 26:9). GOD’S judgments are always mixed with HIS mercies, and HE stands ready to forgive all who sincerely repent of their sins and fully turn to HIM through faith in HIS only begotten SON, CHRIST JESUS. The last grain of sand of HIS offer of salvation has not yet dropped through the hourglass of eternity. Therefore, it is up to the church to “account that the longsuffering of our LORD is SALVATION,” and continue to compel sinners to flee, while there is still time, to the ONLY ONE who can save their souls, which is the MESSIAH and LORD JESUS CHRIST (2 Peter 3:15).

JESUS said, “These things I have spoken unto you, that in ME you might have peace. In the world you shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world” (John 16:33). Become a conqueror and overcomer today through JESUS. Repent now, and make JESUS your LORD with this prayer to GOD:

Prayer

My LORD and my GOD, have mercy upon my soul, a sinner. 1 I believe that JESUS CHRIST is the SON of the living GOD. 2 I believe that HE died on the cross and shed HIS precious blood for the forgiveness of all my former sins. 3 I believe that GOD raised JESUS from the dead by the power of the HOLY SPIRIT 4 and that HE sits on the right hand of GOD at this moment, hearing my confession of sin and this prayer. 5 I open up the door of my heart, and I invite YOU into my heart, LORD JESUS. 6 Wash all of my filthy sins away in the precious blood that YOU shed in my place on the cross at Calvary. 7 YOU will not turn me away, LORD JESUS; YOU will forgive my sins and save my soul. I know because YOUR WORD, the Bible, says so. 8 YOUR WORD says that YOU will turn no one away, and that includes me. 9 Therefore, I know that YOU have heard me, and I know that YOU have answered me, and I know that I am saved. 10 And I thank YOU, LORD JESUS, for saving my soul, and I will show my thankfulness by doing as YOU command and sin no more.11

After salvation, JESUS said to be baptized, fully submerged in water, in the name of the FATHER, and of the SON, and of the HOLY SPIRIT.12 Then study the King James Version Bible, and, for your benefit and the benefit of others, do what it says.13

CHRIST and GOD the FATHER now live in you through the HOLY SPIRIT. There is a way you can receive a fuller portion of the divine nature of GOD in you. The more the divine nature of GOD lives in you, the more you will be able to stand against the temptations that have so easily moved so many millions of Christians away from salvation. Pray for the baptism in the HOLY SPIRIT.14 For instructions on how to receive the baptism in the HOLY SPIRIT and to receive more of GOD’S holy nature, ask for our literature or call. For without holiness, no man shall see GOD (Hebrews 12:14).

If you want the world saved, as JESUS commands, then don’t rob GOD of HIS tithes and offerings. GOD said, “Will a man rob GOD? Yet ye have robbed ME. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed THEE? In tithes and offerings. Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed ME, even this whole nation [and this whole world]. Bring ye all the tithes [a ‘tithe’ is 10% of your gross income] into the storehouse, that there may be meat [Spiritual food] in MINE house [souls saved], and prove ME now herewith, saith the LORD of HOSTS, if I will not open you the windows of Heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the LORD of HOSTS. And all nations shall call you blessed: for ye shall be a delightsome land, saith the LORD of HOSTS” (Malachi 3:8-12).
