DIFFICULT MOUNTAIN

by Tony Alamo

After my late wife, Sue, and I had been married a short while, God gave me a vision of a mountain. At first it was a pleasant mountain, but then it became a “DIFFICULT MOUNTAIN.” In the vision, I looked tall, strong, and more muscular than I was at the time of the vision. At the time of the vision, I weighed around 155-160 pounds, but in the vision I looked as though I weighed 190-210 pounds. I was walking up the mountain quickly and with ease, even though the mountain looked as though it were at least a seventy-five to eighty degree incline. The mountain was very steep. It was a beautiful, clear day. The sky was light blue, and there was not a cloud in it. I was wondering what this vision meant.

After I saw myself walking, there was a sudden change. In less than a second, the vision, like a motion picture camera, widened and I saw my late wife, Susan, quite a distance behind me, walking up the mountain slowly. She looked weak, fatigued. She wasn’t moving her arms as people who are healthy do; her arms were by her side. She was tired, yet she was pressing forward, continuing up the mountain. I wondered, as weak as she was, why it was so important for her to climb that mountain. It made me feel bad that I was not aware of how weak she was and that I wasn’t helping her. In the vision I turned around, walked down to where she was to help her up the mountain, I put my right arm around her waist, and I held her left hand in my left hand, and began pushing her up the mountain. I was wondering where this vision was going.

Again, in less than the second that I put my arm around Susan to help her get to where we were going, the vision turned from color to black and white. This same shift from color to black and white also was the case in the vision God gave me regarding Susan and me being married. Together we would do a great work for Him.1

In both visions we became silhouettes. In the mountain vision, we and the mountain were silhouettes. The light blue sky turned dark, and a wind that was black, strong, fierce, came blowing strongly against us. This was a hellish storm far beyond my ability to describe. In this vision, it seemed almost impossible at times that we could continue fighting our way up this mountain. However, in the vision, Sue and I forcefully continued battling the storm (climbing the mountain).

When Sue and I went to Las Vegas to be married, we were married at the Red Rock Baptist Church. We’re not Baptists. We believe in the Pentecostal Baptism of the Holy Spirit, but Sue arranged for us to be married there anyway. It was beautiful and calm in Las Vegas like the first part of the vision, and then, as we approached the church to be married, a real storm, a big wind suddenly began battling us. Debris and all kinds of things were flying all around us. It was, I am sure, Satan attempting to stop us from being joined together in holy matrimony. Satan knew that God had a large purpose for us, so he did everything in his power that he could do in hopes that he could stop us first from being married, and foremost from doing what we’ve been doing for the past forty-two years.

When we finally got into the church, the pastor greeted us, married us, and told both of us that he had never ever felt the Spirit of the Lord so strong when he had married anyone else as he did when he married us. Then he told us that he had never ever felt the Spirit of the Lord so strong in his whole life. I was surprised that Hank Snow, the singer, was there. He was our best man. I had never met him before our wedding. Later, in Nashville, we became best friends, but I never brought it up, and he never remembered that he was our best man at our wedding. After the wedding, we walked out of the church, and it was beautiful and calm again. The storm was over, and we very strongly felt the presence of the Lord. We were married three times in Las Vegas.

(Now, back to the vision.) The fierce storm and winds kept trying to discourage us from continuing our journey up the mountain. I know now that the storm was, and still is, attempting to destroy our end-time ministry. I also know that the vision was symbolic of us, showing me that I would continue fighting Satan’s resistance against our very supernatural ministry to bring the light of the world, which is Jesus (who is the Word of God2) to everyone so strongly that He would shine through to the deceived people on earth no matter how strong and dark the storm. It reminds me of the song, “The Shepherd went out to search for the one lost sheep, and all through the night through the stormy steep, He sought till He found him, with love bands He bound him, I was that one lost sheep.” Forty-two years ago, the Lord had mercy on me by giving me supernatural dreams, visions, signs, and wonders. This was what caused me to fear God, give my heart to Him, and serve Him all these years. The least I could do with the power that God gave me was to serve Him as one of His shepherds, someone who will search for all the lost sheep in the world with the light of the Gospel of Christ. “For there is none other name under Heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved,” but by the name Jesus (Acts 4:12). Jesus said of anyone attempting to enter the Kingdom of Heaven any way other than through Him, “the same is a thief and a robber” (John 10:1).

The New Testament is the true prophecy of Christ. The Old Testament is the true prophecy of His coming into our world and fulfilling all the hundreds of prophecies of Him mentioned in the Old Testament, which He did fulfill in the New Testament.3 The Old and New Testaments are the one true Bible. I teach, preach, and publish the entire Bible. Because I do what God tells me to do, Satan, in opposition to God, relentlessly brings many storms against me. True born-again Christians will continue fighting through the storms to the end, moving through the many stormy mountains because of their great reward ahead, which of course, is the Kingdom of Heaven forever. “He that endureth to the end shall be saved” (Matt. 10:22).

The shield of faith is prayer. All Christians are able to continue by praying without ceasing, by praying always.4 The shield (prayer) enables you and me to “quench all the fiery darts of the wicked” (Eph. 6:16). You must do the same if you expect to win an eternal place for yourself in God’s kingdom.

No matter how difficult the storm, Christians must never stop searching through it for the lost souls that Jesus died for on the cross. If the salvation of one soul was and is worth the entire universe to the Lord, enough for Him to come into this world as a man, live a perfect life, die for us all, go to Hell for us all, ascend out of Hell, resurrect from the dead, then ascend into the Kingdom of Heaven,5 then who are we to refuse to go through much less persecution, trials, tribulation, character assassinations, and slander for His cause, especially when He goes through it with us by Him living in us with His Father by the Spirit? His cause is this: “The Lord is...not willing that any should perish [spend eternity in Hell and the lake of fire], but that all should come to repentance” (II Pet. 3:9). “It pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe” (I Cor. 1:21).

(Back to the vision.) At the time I saw this vision, I was very young in the Lord, and I didn’t know to come against the storm with the shield of faith, which is prayer.6 I’m much wiser now. I’ve learned to pray about everything. This is why I have been able to endure the many hellish storms, the many problems or mountains, for all these years. It is by praying to God through Christ, the one and only mediator to the throne of God the Father, that I have been able to stand and see my ministry expand throughout the entire world.7 If we don’t in prayer ask God to remove our troubles, our mountains, they won’t go away. If we don’t by prayer seek Him, it will be impossible for the Lord to eliminate our problems for us. If we don’t in prayer knock, the door to Heaven will not be opened to us (Matt. 7:7-8). God can do more for us in less than a second than we ever could do in a thousand lifetimes.

“Whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith” (I John 5:4), which again is really our shield, our prayers. And for this reason Jesus commanded us to, “Pray always” (Luke 21:36). This is a commandment. The Apostle Paul commanded us to, “Pray without ceasing” (I Thes. 5:17). Jesus, Paul, and I know if you want victory in this present, evil world, you must “PRAY!” Faith, even faith as small as a grain of mustard seed, which is the smallest seed in the world, which is the same as a shield as small as the size of a grain of a mustard seed or a prayer as small as a grain of mustard seed, will still cause any mountain (problem) to be “cast into the sea; [and] it shall be done” (Matt. 21:21).

(Now, back to the vision.) We kept climbing. I’ve never stopped climbing to this very day, and I never will until I finish my work with the Lord. Again, the minute I put my arm around Susie, the vision turned from full color to black silhouettes of ourselves, and the wind that was trying to stop us from climbing the mountain was also black. Sometimes it was so black that I couldn’t see us. The vision was showing me that these were the times that we were not praying enough. The times when we were praying enough, the blackness would dim, and I could see us still climbing. Worry doesn’t help. It must only be prayer. Every so often, for a flash of a second, I could see our silhouettes. Again, this was the time when we were strongly praying. I would be down on one knee, still pushing upwards, and Sue was with me, still with my arm around her. Then it became so black that I couldn’t see Sue or myself at all, but I knew we were still continuing our journey through this awful storm. Life gets far too hard to have any victory without praying. “The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much” (Jas. 5:16).

At the time of this vision, I was a very young Christian. I asked Susie, who had been saved twenty-five years before I received Christ, if she knew what the vision meant. I also prayed to the Lord to find out what it meant. Sue didn’t know what it meant, but the Lord told me that there would be great persecution, slanderous character assassination, brutal trials, tribulations, jailings, imprisonment, beating, stoning, treachery, betrayals, false brethren, false accusers, despisers of us that are doing the good work of the Lord, in our very near future.8 All of these hellish things were, in one way or another, inspired by Satan.9

The Lord is coming back to earth again very soon, and He wants me to tell everyone on the planet these things.10 He was showing me that the going was going to be rough and tough. However, I know the Scripture that states, “He that endureth to the end [those who continue climbing the mountain, praying continuously, and never stop to the end] shall be saved” (Matt. 10:22). The Lord showed me that the vision represented the war of Armageddon, the war between God and Satan for the souls of men.11

I was wondering when this would happen, when Jesus would come back. I’m very surprised that He hasn’t returned yet. This vision was given to me around forty-two years ago. (This update is Nov. 2006.) When would all these persecutions begin? I found out—they began almost immediately. The powers of darkness tried to make us look as though we were dangerous to the people in the world, when in reality we were bringing the most important message in the world to them, the only message that would tell them how to have God’s life living in them and through them, the only message able to keep them out of the fiery pits of Hell and the lake of fire, the only message that, if they received it, would save their souls, get them into Heaven for eternity.

“Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath [many storms], because [the devil knows] that he hath but a short time [before God casts him into the lake of fire for all eternity12]. And when the dragon [the ‘great red dragon,’ the devil13 ] saw that he was cast unto the earth, he persecuted the [true church of Christ, the new Israel, the New Jerusalem, the bride of Christ,14 symbolized in Revelation 12:1 as a ‘woman…[having] upon her head a crown of twelve stars’]” (Rev. 12:12-13).

Today we see this happening. The world system says the name of God and Jesus must go. His Word must totally be eradicated, they say, and true Christians must be dubbed “cults” and destroyed. To the world system, anything that is of God must be lied about and, if possible, destroyed. But God will do a quick work and destroy them, and soon, before Jesus’ soon return.

The devil is the accuser of the saints, but he is no longer able to come before the throne of God to accuse the saints of God both day and night.15 Now he accuses the saints through his devilish workers (humans) that he lives and works in. They are the incarnation of Satan on earth, and they do what Satan commands them to do, just as we, who are the continuation of the Lord’s incarnation here on earth, do what God commands us to do. Again, as Revelation 12:12 says, he is filled with wrath, because he knows that his time, the time before he shall be cast into the lake of fire, is short. He knows he’s going to have to spend eternity burning up forever with his band of evil angels and all those who follow him.

What a vision! What a mighty prophecy is this mountain with Sue and me on it with all the tribulation! What a wonderful God that would reveal these things to me in advance so that I could prepare my heart for them! It has consistently caused me to “WATCH!” as the Lord has commanded everyone to do (Mark 13:37, Luke 21:34-36), to diligently study God’s Word in depth (II Tim. 2:15) with vigilance (I Pet. 5:8), and to “pray always” (Luke 21:36), “without ceasing” (I Thes. 5:17). By my seeking Him in earnest, He has given me the power to continue on to the end.16

If fallen-away Christians feel that they’re going to be raptured out of the tribulations, or if they believe they don’t need to allow God’s fullness to live in them and work through them, they’re in for a big and dreadful surprise. Christ comes immediately after the tribulations (Matt. 24:29-31). I know we’re going through the tribulations because God showed me we are in the midst of the tribulations, “the beginning of sorrows.”17 God’s Word tells us He’s going to shorten the time because of the elect, meaning all who are living in the corporate body of Christ who are doing the work with Christ, those who are accounted worthy to suffer great things as a witness to the world that we believe in Jesus, the Word of God.18 James stated, “Faith without works is dead” (Jas. 2:20). As we work for the Lord, we will be opposed. The vision I saw from God is true prophecy.

The plagues that are being sent on earth today from God are only “the beginning of sorrows” (Matt. 24:8). No one, but those of us who are allowing God to use us as His temples wherein He lives, will be able to escape the wrath of God.19 God says, “Though they dig into Hell, thence shall Mine hand take them; though they climb up to Heaven, thence will I bring them down: And though they hide themselves in the top of Carmel, I will search and take them out thence; and though they be hid from My sight in the bottom of the sea, thence will I command the serpent, and he shall bite them” (Amos 9:2-3). No one can stop God from doing what He said He’s going to do. And there’s no other way to escape but through Christ.

Around forty-two years ago, God showed me this vision of the “difficult mountain.” He showed me the difficult times that would be ahead for Sue and me in our ministry. When I read the Bible, I see that the entire world (even Christians20 ) shall partake in the fourteen major plagues from God.21 I see now that the people of the world are terrorized because of the violence, the terrorists, the diseases, the food contamination, and everything else.

In the days of Noah, God looked and saw the violence at the end of the world. In Genesis 6:5-7, we see that “God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And it repented the Lord that He had made man on the earth, and it grieved Him at His heart. And the Lord said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth.” And again, in Genesis 6:11-13, “The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with VIOLENCE. And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted His way [God’s way] upon the earth. And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before Me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth.” And just look at the VIOLENCE of today, the terrorists spawn from the media, the motion picture and television industry. God sees that today’s time is the most violent time ever since the earth began. It is millions of times worse than it was in the days of Noah. If God saw the violence in the days of Noah and, because of the sinful violence, destroyed the entire world by water with the exception of eight souls, how could you think that He’s going to allow the world that exists now to continue on any longer?

Jesus tells us in the words of Matthew 24:21-22: “For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake [those of us who are true Christians] those days shall be shortened.”

Will God destroy them softly with raindrops like He did to the violent people in the days of Noah? Or will He destroy them with more violence today, because today the people’s violence is much more than the violence in the days of Noah? Yes, the Lord is going to give them back much more than what they’ve sown, “For whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap” (Gal. 6:7).

It astounds me to see in the news how little men and women that God created out of the earth think they are going to devise a way to protect themselves from God’s plagues. Was the world able to save itself at the time of the flood during Noah’s day?22 Were the scientists, the city planners, or the building and safety commissioners able to save themselves during the flood that destroyed the entire earth during the time of Noah? The answer to that is no. How much less will they be able to save themselves from the meteorites, the earthquakes, the fires, the floods, and all the other plagues from God that will surely blast the earth very soon without warning?

How, if all the people in the world join hand in hand together, can they expect to stop these seven first plagues, which are currently being sent to earth by the Almighty God?23 And how do they think they shall prevent the last seven plagues sent to destroy the world, which also shall be sent to the earth by God, let alone the big fire that shall melt the very elements?24“But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up” (II Pet. 3:10).

Everyone in the world has mountains that are surrounding them. Most people are too spiritually blind to know it. They can’t see it because they’re not filled with God’s Spirit. They’re not born again of the Spirit. They’re still dead in their sins and trespasses.25 We all need Christ with His Father by the Spirit to be alive in us so that we can be alive in Him to save us from the wrath of God and the lake of fire. Today is “the day of the Lord…a day of darkness and of gloominess, a day of clouds and of thick darkness, as the morning spread upon the MOUNTAINS” (Joel 2:1-2).26 In today’s world, we see great troubles. There are problems everywhere we look, in every direction. The way I have been able to have victory down through the years, no matter what, is because I believe God. I’ve been given prophecies, and I’ve seen many visions, dreams, signs, and wonders which have come to pass.27 They, with the Word of God, have kept me steadfast through everything that Satan has thrown at me and at the many members of my church, which really is the church of the living Christ, the church of the living God. Jesus said in Revelation 1:18, “I am He that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore.”

The Lord also tells us in His Word that by having faith, the shield of faith, which is PRAYER, “Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked [false doctrine] shall be made straight [by the Word of God], and the rough places plain” (Isa. 40:4). This means that by faith, the shield, PRAYER, every trouble is not only cast into the sea, it is leveled. The word “mountain” not only means problems, but is also symbolic of nations.

Many nations who feel they are powerful because of improved military economics and weapons of war shall be brought low, leveled by God’s mighty power. There are not enough atomic or any other kind of bombs that can do any harm to God Almighty or His people. We currently enjoy all the commonwealth God has provided us through Christ Jesus, our Lord and Savior.28

In confirmation to the vision the Lord gave me of the mountain, the difficult mountain, it is written, “There shall be [in the last days] a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book [the book of life]” (Dan. 12:1). Jesus prophesied of these last days, “For in those days shall be affliction, such as was not from the beginning of the creation which God created unto this time, neither shall be. And except that the Lord had shortened those days, no flesh should be saved: but for the elect’s sake, whom He hath chosen, He hath shortened the days” (Mark 13:19-20). 29

Folks, we’re living in the most difficult time ever. That’s why there are so many suicides, so many people on drugs, and so many alcoholics. That’s also why there is so much distress in the world, so many perplexities of nations (Luke 21:23-26), and so many irrational acts by national and international leaders (Zech. 12:4). Prepare your heart for sorrow. If you will, you will never be disappointed, and you will overcome. Again, don’t think about having a good time. In this world, Christians are to be zealously busy doing not our works, but the work of God. It is in the Kingdom of Heaven that we will have rest and exceedingly good times forever.

If ever there was a need to have God’s power, it is today because of today’s difficulties, because of today’s mountains. Esau sold his soul for a bowl of beans (Gen. 25:30-34). Are you going to sell your soul for something of this world that has no eternal value? Many people calling themselves Christians think that the Word of God is too harsh, but it’s not too harsh. If it seems harsh to you, what does it matter? There’s no other way to enter Heaven except by receiving it. The tribulations are harsh, and you’re not going to get out of them, that is, if you live. We all need to have God in us,30 and we need to serve Him with all our heart, soul, mind and strength so that we’ll be able to go through the tribulations like a hot knife going through butter.31 Some people reading this literature and believing it to be true “shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that [do not believe the Bible shall come] unto the resurrection of damnation” (John 5:29).

The Kingdom of Heaven has a strong government, which is governed by Almighty God Himself. If people expect to enter into eternity, and expect to enter the Kingdom of God, they must now begin obeying the laws of the government of the Kingdom of God.32 To begin obeying the Lord, you must receive salvation for yourself so that your family may also have a chance to possess eternal life by receiving salvation through the soul-cleansing blood that Jesus shed on the cross at Calvary.33 Then, by Jesus with His Father by the Holy Spirit entering your spirit, your dead spirit can be resurrected to immortality—eternal life. You can begin your salvation, your eternal life, now, with the Lord, by saying this prayer:

Prayer

My Lord and my God, have mercy upon my soul, a sinner. 1 I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of the Living God. 2 I believe that He died on the cross and shed His precious blood for the forgiveness of all my sins. 3 I believe that God raised Jesus from the dead by the power of the Holy Spirit 4 and that He sits on the right hand of God at this moment, hearing my confession of sin and this prayer. 5 I open up the door of my heart and I invite You into my heart, Lord Jesus. 6 Wash all of my filthy sins away in the precious blood that You shed in my place on the cross at Calvary. 7 You will not turn me away, Lord Jesus, You will forgive my sins and save my soul. I know because Your Word, the Bible says so. 8 Your Word says that You will turn no one away, and that includes me. 9 Therefore, I know that You have heard me, and I know that You have answered me, and I know that I am saved. 10 And I thank You, Lord Jesus, for saving my soul, and I will show my thankfulness by doing as You command and sin no more. 11

You’ve just completed the first step in a series of five steps which are necessary to receive salvation. Your second step is to deny yourself and take up the cross daily for the purpose of mortifying yourself, that is, for putting to death your own will, your soulful self, and the world with all of its lusts. All these must be baptized into the death of Christ.

Step three is your resurrection from the satanic life of Adam unto the sinless life of Christ. Step four is your ascension into a position of authority to reign for God on earth, and the fifth step is to reign for God on earth to the end for the purpose of bringing about the Kingdom of Heaven on earth. You must learn the Word of God, then submit yourself and do what the Word says, so that the church and the world may see evidence of your submission to God’s Word, His order, and His authority in and by you.

Praise the Lord. May God reward you abundantly.
